Hi Nikki,

How do you go about getting the stickers in the passport whilst still in the UK? I read that some one went to the visa office in Perth and had them done, didn't know you could do it here.

Also, how long was it until you got the letter in the post? We just have the email.

There's yet another form to fill in!!

Well worth it though. It's form 1405. As with all of our stuff the agent provided a copy but would imagine it somewhere on the immi website. You have to send off your passport along with the form. It comes back about 2-3 weeks later complete with a sticker in it!!

It's £45 per passport.

Xx

Can I just say the stickers are optional. You don't need them, visas are linked electronically to your passport.

We did everything we needed to do ie medicare, driving license, bank accounts etc without stickers. No issues at all.

no one we know has them either.

You do though, if you renew your passport after your visa grant let immi know your new passport no.

Fair point they are optional but I've also seen comments that it can make life a bit easier to start with in terms of providing evidence of visa etc when you first arrive.

For us I see them being advantage, rather than having to take a piece of paper around with us (which knowing me will either end up in bits/washed or lost) we can just take our passports which then also double up as ID.

I think at the end of the day it's down to personal choice as to whether you want to spend the additional money!

OH needs to renew his passport soon so I think I'll hold off until the new shiny one arrives! Thanks for the form number Nikki, see having an agent does come in handy! Who would ever know you could get the sticky done here?

Just emailed a primary school in the Hills and asked whether it makes much difference if my boys start school at the beginning of the year in Jan or wait until March (which would allow OH to finish a project at work and leave without dropping the company in it).

What surprised me though, looking at last year's term dates was that the kids started back on the 1/1/12. No public holiday for New Year's Day!! not much of a celebration going on there then otherwise they must have a lot of teachers with hangovers!!

Either way, if we did come over in Jan we would still have to spend a few weeks deciding exactly where to settle and the schools would be shut so couldn't view them anyway (or maybe not if they start on the 1/1/14). Seems harsh that one! I really thought Aussy kids had a huge summer break over Christmas, the equivalent to our 6 weeks summer holidays. According to those dates, they broke up on the 18/12/11 and had to be back on the 1/1/12, only 12 days off! Is that normal?

Debs

Well you can't just leave it there

 Sorry, I thought this was the IKNWC thread?

I've decided to commit myself to writing. I'm not going to be leaping in to writing the next Harry Potter but I have decided to focus my energy at what I want to do rather than just putting food on the table.

I thought they were closed for 6 weeks from mid dec until early feb. maybe there's a typo on the info ha ha. Did you see what I did there with the o's.

Debo pmsl

I hope it was a typo. Good, at least everyone on here is saying they go back in Feb, must be correct. Funny how I believe all you lot on here rather than the official website of a school. If theirs is correct, then I'm not to that school!
