Guest ang1965
So exciting, your new life and a baby grandson!! My daughter married last year And it's the thought of missing out seeing grandchildren that's spurring me on, I have taken a break from work while I check out all my options, it does all seem a bit complicated!! liverpoolloo
So exciting, your new life and a baby grandson!! My daughter married last year And it's the thought of missing out seeing grandchildren that's spurring me on, I have taken a break from work while I check out all my options, it does all seem a bit complicated!! It is a compicated process Ang a lot of parents don't use a migrant agent and do the paperwork themselves, i work full time and because i am doing this alone opted to use an agent for support. If you have any questions or queries i would phone an agent and ask what you need to know and get some answers, the advice will be free on the phone it's then up to you if you want to use them or do it alone. Theres a parent visa thread on '' pomsinoz '' it's just a thread dealing with parents doing this visa, it's really helpfull and folk on there are really nice and willing to help with any questions especially if you are not using an agent. Is your daughter a permanent resident Ange, as she has to have been a permanent resident for 2yrs before you can apply, theres also a balance of family, if there's anything you need to know i can try and help. Just private message me on here. Well at least the sun is shining this Saturday morning

Rosie
Hi Jak, thanks for inviting me. I would love to have come but Thursday and Friday are the only two days I can't this week! Typical! We are trying to decide between living in Mandurah or Burswood. We want an apartment as we find looking after someone else's house, garden and pool a bit too much! Going back to two apartments in Burswood Thurs and Fri so can't make the meeting. Let me know if you're meeting up again tho! Cheers Rosie

Steve and Paula
Thought I would see if there are anymore older mums who would like to meet up ( don't have to be a mum)! I am in Baldivis but can travel once licence is sorted (long story). Hi JAK, i just saw this on the home page and not sure if this is just for Mum's or if the kids can come too. I'm 40 with a 5 year old son and 2 year old daughter. We've been in Port Kennedy since October which is only 15 minutes from Baldivis. I'd love to meet some new people. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks, Paula

Guest pom on the move
Hi, Myself, OH and daughter aged 11 are weighing up moving to Perth. There are many things that concerns me like everyone else when they are moving to the other side of the world but after reading lots of posts I can't seem to find many from older mums arranging meet ups. I'm 49 and have seen lots of people who introduce themselves (usually in the 30 - 40 age group) - maybe its just me being paranoid!!. When my daughter started at school I thought she would have the oldest mum picking her up in the playground but was happy to find a wide age range so didn't feel too ancient. If/When she goes to secondary school in Perth I obviously won't be at the school gate and therefore worry the opportunities to meet other mums/females would be more difficult. By the way, I am younger in my ways and oh is 6 year younger so I don't write myself off but feel it may put some off. Are there any older mums out there that have felt a bit "isolated"? Thanks Karen You are not going to be isolated because you class yourself as "older" You can isolate yourself at whatever age but not making an effort & trying to enjoy your new life with your daughter. I have noticed at my childrens school most parents to be older than me (33 with a 6 & 4 year old) lots in their 40's with 5 year olds & some younger siblings. Many of my new friends are older than me, but I don't look at their number just if we get on well or not. Moving to a new school & meeting people is hard anywhere, you wont run into friendships from the 1st day, they will happen over time. In a year of being here I now have some great friends of all ages. You will be fine if your happy, friendly & enjoying your new life :-) All the best & good Luck

mccrone1977
There is a great website buggybuddies.com.au that has different playgroups/meet ups on it one of them being a group for older mums! You can post about yourself on there and suggest meetups too.
thesteels
Hi, myself, hubby and daughter 16 and son 12 are in the process of emigrating to Perth we hope to be there by end of year. I too thought of myself as an older mum 46 this year and noticed everyone seemed alot younger than me, my hbby is 41 and we are coming out on his work etc, but people always comment that we look younger than we are so I think in some ways having children later on keeps you younger!! So please go for it and let us know where in Perth you end up and perhaps we can start up a club for Mums over 45 to meet up!!
