Guest emi-great
Hi I think there are good opportunities here for young people & here are a couple of links for you to check out the jobs & also the TAFE (college) The TAFE's seem to do a lot of different courses & it may be an idea for your son to attend TAFE if only for a short 6 month course as that way he would meet kids of his own age. http://www.tafe.wa.edu.au/Pages/Default.aspx www.seek.com.au www.mycareer.com.au www.apprenticeships.training.wa.gov.au Good luck to you all Eve www.emi-great.com

Guest Bobcat
Hi All My son has just completed his GCSEs, I am a little concerned that he may struggle to get a job and make friends, am I worrying about nothing? Thanks Your son will be as right as rain. Get him into sport if he is that way inclined and he will soon pick up loads of friends. He can enrol in TAFE courses and that will put him on the right track re securing a career path. Loads of opportunity here down under for youth, please don't worry. No doubt your son will than you long term for bringing him over here to experience a totally different and pretty cool lifestyle. Good luck Johnno
Guest Leeroy1973
Hi Johnno Many thanks for your reply, you cant imagine how much that means as he was the reason I was stalling on my decision, so thank you very much to you and EMI for putting my mind at rest. Much appreciated. All the best Lee
StraighttothePoint
Nope it is right to worry. Unless he likes sport, can talk openly to strangers and /or he is from another planet bringing a 16 year old to the other side of the world will be difficult. Wait until he is 18 and let him choose!! The Frets
Hi My daughter was 16 when we arrived, last December, she has since turned 17. Anyway she had taken her GCSE's and passed 9 of them. Before we left she didn't want to come but she did anyway, I think she realised that she would be better off with us. Anyway she had been chatting to some boys and girls her own age on MSN, that she had met through another website(simular to this 1). Well we arrived she had arranged to meet up with one of them and he introduced her to his friends and she ended up getting a job through them. And now she's hopefully looking into going to TAFE, but we're just letting her decide what she wants to do. I do know that she wouldn't go back to England permanently, although she wants to go back to visit her friends, which she is saving up to do while she's at work. Try not to worry, none of my children are into sport and they are doing fine, they've settled into their respective schools and have lots of friends. If you want any more help or advice my email is jinnially@msn.com All the best Jane
