piccolo
I can't seem to figure out what I would be entitled to if this should happen? Looking at budget cover with IMAN which has a 12 month waiting period for pregnancy/birth services. So I'm wondering, is being able to avail of the reciprocal agreement of any advantage in this case? Or does it limit my options? I'm not interested in attending a private hospital to give birth. Has this happened to anyone? If I do get pregnant before we go, I would want a waterbirth in a birthing centre or else a home birth. Would that still be available to me as a temporary resident? Thanks! All very confusing this healthcare lark!
TheRocks
Irish on a 457 don't have to pay for in hospital care, but I think you would have to pay for doctors visits and any scans and blood tests. Don't know about homebirths.
Sal
Home births are very rare here and not really supported - 0.8% of women have them. Check this out - http://www.health.wa.gov.au/havingababy/birth/home_birth.cfm Best bet may be a Family Birth Centre - more like the UK model rather than American. http://www.health.wa.gov.au/havingababy/birth/options.cfm no idea re visa!
