Flights to Perth

ebookers are offering flights on Cathay Pacific for GBP 751, they're a good airline (via Hong Kong)

Flight centre - Qatar (that have just won an airline award) GBP 735. Some times flight centre add some additional charges though and it is not just what they advertise on the internet - worth calling them though. I just put in any old dates when I searched so prices may vary. these are return fares. If you want a single then have to search again! Try cheapflights.co.uk, skyscanner and alternativeairlines.

if you go on STA travel they are the cheapest. technically a student travel company so get a lot of upfront discounts but now provide flights for non students.

If you are looking for one way flights have you tried the International Migration Organisation for a quote. I was reading about them on another site, apparently they get a mention on the visa letter. I had never heard of them before which shows how well I read things!! Anyway I have got contact details if you want to give them a try, I am going to give them a ring this week for flights for July. PM and I will send the details to you.

We used skyscanner.net too as you can easily see how prices fluctuate over a period you may be considering travelling. In the end, the difference between certain dates that we were looking at wasn't very much. We've flown Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines. Preferred Singapore - just seemed a little bit nicer somehow. If it's a permanent emigration flight, check any extra baggage allowance they may offer.

I would agree with Phil above, we used skyscanner too as it was good to be able to narrow it down to the dates that were cheaper within the same month period.

We flew Emirates, which was brilliant I have to say, even better than last time I flew with them but they are one of the most expensive and they don't allow you any extra luggage allowance for emigrating but I know that some of the others do, like Singapore etc. You do have to ask for it though and make sure you get an e-mail in writing to take with you to the airport to prove that you have got it. Our friends got 40 k's each through Singapore for a family of 4 whereas we only got 30 with Emirates. However bear in mind that none of them tend to weigh your hand luggage so even though they have a limit on it they don't actually check the weight.

Finally if you have some stuff that you can't fit into your case and need to send out with you but not in your container I know a company based at all the UK airports who will ship it for you and it arrrives within 5 days, I can let you have their details if you're interested? We had to do it as I was over on my luggage allowance - this is a habit I can't seem to break lol! I recommended them to a friend and they shipped the kids playstation/footie stuff over too. If you book with them in advance they will collect from your house which is really good and they are much cheaper than paying the excess luggage charges. Mine were going to cost 525 pounds and it cost me 170 to ship the case over, the daft thing was it came Emirates anyway but just on a different flight - ludicrous!

Good luck with everything and if you need any more help just shout up

Singapore Airlines have always been fantastic when I have flown with them. They are one of only a few "official" 5 star airlines in the world. But you are right, they have some fantastic offers at the moment. I am based in the Netherlands and have only this week booked one way tickets from Amsterdam to Perth for 4 people at the end of June for a grand total of 1706 euro (around 1400 stg). Not bad!

We booked direct with Singapore airlines - if you're migrating and haven't already validated your visa you can get extra baggage allowance- do be mindful that with Singapore for example the extra baggage allowance will only be given if you have a one way ticket and unvalidated visa

Why do singapore Airlines seem to be so much cheaper than the other? are they a bit 'second rate' or something?

My dad has flown here with Qantas (first leg with BA who he said were terrible), Emirates and twice with Singapore, he reates Singapore as the best - as an elderly man travelling on his own I have to say they take really good care of him.

Hi Jak,

On the visa letter we received it told us to try International Migration Organisation but we were unsure if it was going to be more complicated than its worth? We were going to book flights with Emirates but they are proving to be quite expensive for a one way fare. How have you found the IMO? Do you think that using the IMO a better way of arranging flights?

Thanks

Kat

We found it cheaper to book with Singapore directly - the flight times offered by IMO weren't the best (for us)
