Guest The Flying Englishman
To those of you familiar with the 176, 108, and 100 Skilled Sponsored State VISAs - What evidence is required / what checks are involved etc regarding your prevoius overseas employment? In total I have easily worked outside of the UK and Australia for over 5 years on and off. When applying for a skilled VISA (pref 176 Skilled Independant VISA) I've noticed overseas employment (work experience outside of Australia and / or the UK) awards you with more points which I am fortunate enough to get based on the amouunt of time I have worked overseas. I was wondering though, during the application process what evidence do you need to provide to prove time worked overseas? Due to varied circumstances, proving my time worked overseas on paper may be difficult as I may not be able get hold of the correct receipts etc. I can probably get my employer (and previous employers) of whom gave me the opportunity to work overseas to act as some kind of reference perhaps. Really not sure what it is required from the VISA office and I don't want to hand over a ton of cash only to be refused my VISA based on insifficient evidence etc! Your experiences and ideas of what is required regarding any of the above would be great. Guest Smithinoz
I thought overseas meant outside of Australia? Whether it be UK, USA, EUROPE etc.
New Life Down Under
I am not sure where you are getting your information from but work experience in Australia gives more points than overseas work experience. The UK and anywhere else in the world classes as overseas. To clarify for anyone confused Australian and overseas employment over the past 10 years can be combined, howver the maximum number of points that can be awarded for Australian or oversea employment experience or a combination of both is 20 points. For the purpose of awarding points the department considers skilled employment in the nominated occupation or a closely related occupation will compromise at least 20 hours employment per week, In determining whether an applicants skilled employment is closely related to their nominated application, the department will take into account the occupations wihtin one unit group classified under ANZSCO. At last, thank you for clearing this up for me It seems that my overseas experience in the UK (and out of the UK) may allow me to apply for the SKilled Sponsored / Independent Work Visa (176/175) after all. I'll check it out and get back. New life down under - If all goes well with the Skilled Work Visa, I have you to thank (and everybody else on the forum for that matter). Guest The Flying Englishman
Was hoping that with the additional points gained through overseas exp I would be able to apply for the 176 GSM Visa at last. Unfortunately, still no joy with it :C All online assessments I have completed say I now qualify with 70 points for a 176 Visa. Some Migration agents I have spoken to are saying I don't qualify because I don't have a suitable qualification to back my profession. I don't know what to think now... ! So I now have the points required but not the correct qualification to pass a skills assessment (apparently, I will be confirming this)
