Mad to not organise short term rental?

Recommended Posts

We are flying to Perth on May 26th and staying with OH's brother for a week. During that week, OH's new employer has invited us down to Bunbury to meet them and show him around etc. She has offered to organise for a realtor to show us a few properties available for long term rental. So, my question is, should we still organise a short term rental in Bunbury anyway? We are only staying with my BIL for a week, after that we're heading down to Bunbury.

It's just that short term rentals are ridiculously expensive but then I don't want to be under pressure to take a house I don't love because we've nothing else. Confused!

You would be mad to pick somewhere straight away without getting a feel for the place first. I know short term rental is expensive, but you might want to give yourself a little bit more time before jumping in. Like SusieQ said, the application process is a bit slow and you could be waiting a week or so anyway before you can get in. It would still be good to get an agent to show you a few places so you can at least get a head start. Have you had a look at http://www.stayz.com.au/short-term-rentals-accommodation/wa/south-west/bunbury . There's a myriad of places to choose from. The main thing you don't want to do is have to move every few days, like I did when I first moved to Dublin. You could always look at the various house sitting websites as well which would save you plenty of dollars, although I think demand outstrips supply

Piccolo somewhere in these forums I read that you were looking at East Bunbury or maybe I've gone mad from reading too many, but if you do there is a play group there which my wife takes our youngest 2 kids to on a Wednesday morning. I am sure you would probably be wanting to mix with the locals, but this group seems to be full of ex-pats all sharing the similar experience of moving somewhere else and being away from family. It's been a handy way for them all to make friends and my wife loves to organise girly nights out. If you do move to the area and you're interested PM me and I can let you know the details.
