Don't forget to fill in the forms requesting import, without the import being granted they will hold your car at the docks with the potential to send back.

If it's a half decent Swedish/German/luxury/performance car that you love, bring it over, I'm gutted I didn't go through the hassle of bringing over my FSH low mileage A6.

Hi Druid

The info is exactly what I was after. cheers. Did you sort this out on your own or did some one do it for you? Where did you get all your info from?

Cheers

Did it all myself, spent hours trawling the internet, reading up on forums like this, talking to car importers etc etc, if you need help drop me a PM, I will try to help

Can I ask if you struggled to get insurance Druid as it's an import? We're shipping our car over it arrives on the 25th May and have recently been told we might not get insurance !

We found the same, most of the mainstream insurance companies would not touch it such as Allianze and RACWA, we ended up with SGIO, who are a mainsteam provider, but there are hundreds of samller insurance companies who will insure it, SGIO gave us a very competitive deal, the maller companies were a bit more, but not silly

Too bloody much. Cheaper to sell and buy one of the over priced cars in oz. Think thats why they charge so much in duty to take your own car, so we have to buy thers

I think it depends what car you have if it's worth taking. For us it definitely was worth it, as the total cost of shipping and taxes etc was about £4000. We could never replace it for that in OZ. Also we just had it valued here for Insurance and it's worth more than we paid for it 5 years ago in the UK!
