Guest busybee
Hi all, Just said I would post this to help others as people did the same for us! A lot of companies are only UK based so we found it harder trying to find one recommended from Ireland. We shipped originally had planned just over 300cu ft. Moving day came and we packed up over 400 cu ft. We went with N*t R*ss and they were really helpful, door to door service all for about €2350, customs clearance here was about $200 then. I got quotes off lots of different companies and they were the cheapest. Best advice is to ring a few, organise them (free) to come out and estimate volume of all the stuff you want to ship and then when you know the volume phone other places and see if they can doc any better. I highly recommend this crowd though, 16 weeks no delay packed and unpacked the lot. Also we packed lots which is great, especially sentimental stuff and kids toys but they do have everything here too and it;s not unbelievably expensive. Plus I think cos so many people move about here it's just easier to pick up second hand fridges/machines etc. Hope that helps!
Philpom
That's ridiculous Busybee. When we moved 4 years ago we got quotes from Natross, Careline and 1 other that I can't remember and Natross were looking at EUR 7000 for a 20ft container and we went with Careline as they did it for just over EUR 5000. Either the dip in the Irish economy has forced prices down dramatically or you scored yourself the bargain of the century.
Guest busybee
Yeah we defo did so, irish economy aint what it usedn to be that's for sure! Why we're here I suppose!
Guest ozindublin
thanks for the post, I have to look into shipping from Dublin soon enough!
piccolo
I've just sent 220 cubic feet with Careline for €2000 so that's a good quote for double the volume, wish I'd tried them! All was going well, shipment picked up last week and then I get this frantic email 2 days ago saying they can't ship anything until we send them copies of our passports, visas and the Deep Sea Insurance Form. Eh....do you not think they would have all the paperwork done weeks before they collected our stuff?!! And when I rang them to ask them that, they got all snotty on the phone with me!!...like it's not their job to ensure the T's are crossed etc...eejits. Ok rant over! Philpom
It's a pity that you had that experience with Careline Piccolo, because ours was first class. The bloke who did our quote had been doing removals for years before moving to the sales side and made sure we knew exactly what we had to supply before it could all go ahead. They told us we would have to pay an extra fee at the Oz end to get the stuff to Bunbury and for any Customs hold ups, but we never got a bill, so happy days for that given we paid over double what everyone else seems to be paying these days from Dublin
The Rooney's
Hi piccollo what is 200cubic sq feet is that a 20ft container ? Jen
piccolo
No Jen, we are in a Groupage Container so we're sharing a 20FT with lots of other people. To give you an idea, we shipped 30 boxes of clothes, kitchenware, photoframes, books etc and on top of that, golf clubs, TV, mattress, buggy, bouncer, activity centre, walker. Phil, I know, Careline had been great up to that point. It's just left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth...moreso because of the attitude of one staff member when I called to complain. No empathy, no apology...just attitude with a capital A. Pity, because everyone else there had been lovely to deal with.

piccolo
No Jen, no accommodation sorted yet. Have been looking online a lot but Bunbury is a quieter market than Perth. We'll stay for a week in Perth with my brother in law and his girlfriend, then down to Margaret River to my friend's parents' timeshare for another week. Hopefully we'll have found something by then,if not...another week in the timeshare! Haven't got sorted with tenants yet but a few potentials thank god!!
