tomabbie
Hoping someone can help. We made the very difficult decision to leave our 8 year old cat behind in the uk but the people who said they would have her have given backword at the 11th hour (we fly on 20th!) Don't know what to do, I don't want her to go to strangers and would rather take her instead but fear may I have left it too late for vaccines etc. Any advice would be appreciated, is it achievable at this late hour? Thanks Kirstie xx

elfie
hi Kirstie I am flying in June and I left it too late as someone let me down also with my 2 4 legged childern, but new owners have been found and they have settled in very well which is fab and I ger regualr updates until the date of flying. It takes about 4/5 months as the UK is now classed as a rabies country. The cats will have to have blood tests for this then vacination, then more blood tests plus they will have to be housed for 30 days plus in Australia due to the quarentine time regarding the rabies. Try the cat protection service they can try and rehome but they will have to be put on a waiting list to house them. Good luck with this love n light Mary
Scot01
My sister's cat died after 18 years last month, I'm sure she'd love a new one - but she's in Inverness!

Guest Suzi
Hi, I am currently in process of bringing my cats to Perth. I fly out on 09.7.12 and they will follow on 23.9.12 and will be staying with family until they can fly. You will need to check the website given above but basically cats need to be up to date with all vaccines and have the rabies vaccince, wait 4 weeks then have a rabies vaccine blood test and if ok can fly out after 150 days from blood test and then have to undertake 30 days in Australian quarantine. Hope it helps with timescales.
Guest sianhennessy
I just looked at the price outline for quarantine, I have 1 dog and 7 cats - the total for the 30 days came to $7630 - ONLY FOR THE QUARANTINE?! - is that right?! nicolac34
Um probably! It's around $1,000 a month for pets in quarantine, you'll get a discount for more than one, but not that big I'm afraid!

Dont forget its going to cost about 3K each to fly them over too, then all ther vets fees, premit fees etc etc etc, I must have the most expensive golden retreiver in the world, but she loves it here
JaynBev
Kirstie, Speak to Andy at Transfur 01403 212900 and he should be able to help you. It might be you need to get them vaccinated & then put into boarding in the UK for a while prior to them travelling to Aus Quarantine - the Rabies laws are now very strict over here. Hope this helps. JaynBev
we brought a 16 year old ginger tom out. We were worried he'd not make it on the flight or past quarantine. He did both and 4 months down the line is more active than he was for the last 5/6 years in the UK. Vet checked him out & said he'd be called healthy for a 10 year old nevermind 16. We certain it's the better weather here, the warmth has eased his arthritis etc & even now it's still better than the UK weather - lol
