Hi Everyone,

We are one step closer to getting to Oz with out 176 Visa coming in any day now.

My deliema is that we have one son and would love another baby now but do we wait and have it in Oz or have it now and put off the actual move for a while?

Im thinking if we stayed in the UK to have another baby we'd have the maternity pay and also my company maternity pay but it would be more financially difficult in Oz?

Anyone give any advice? what are the options for New Mothers in Oz??

If you do decide to have a new baby in UK after your visa has been granted - once you are going to make the move you would require the new baby to get a Visa - Child 101, current costs $1995 offshore (5-7 months processing time) $2960 onshore. Fees due to go up in July.

If you have the baby in Australia - it will be Austrlaian Citizen at birth.

One other thing you may want to factor in is health insurance exclusion periods if you want to take advantage of the private healthcare. We're on a 176 and just had our first baby :D

Everything was just (and I mean, just) outside the 12 month period so my partner's getting maternity pay and our insurer, HBF, is covering loads of the bills (they're the only health insurer that pays for the partner to stay and be fed in the hospital too - which I took full advantage of).

The OP is going on a 176 visa which is PR. People going on a TR visa 457 or Provisional visas 475 for example - a baby born in Australia will get same Visa as Parents, which will need to be applied for once child is born.
