This is a post to help those who are just starting out and are looking into using an agent to help with their application.

We have used a specific company back in 2010 when we started our app and from the get go the agent we paid to handle our affairs were slow and staff turn around was incredible! (We are on case handler no:5)!!

We lodged dec 2011 and had sent absolutely everything to our agents before that (except meds) to go along with app. We received an email mon from our newly appointed CO! YAAHH..... or so we thought.

Turns out our so called 'AGENT' hasnt sent anything to embassy except our app. We are now being asked for everything again and our agent is avoiding us and we cant get any answers! This is 16 mths worth of paperwork!

PLEEEEEAAAASSSSEEE research thoroughly before you decide on agents and looking into it more I wish that we would have used a smaller agent that really was more personalised. Or better yet do it all yourself and get advice from the good people on here!

I Hope this post will help someone in future.

Hi adsmich, do you mind me asking who you are using as your agent, are you allowed to name them in the forum? I ask as i am at the stage of looking to commit to using an agent, still unsure of who to use, ive read many threads on this and other oz forums. I know it varies, an agent rated well by one person may not be by another, but the more home work i do i'll hopefully reduce the chances of having a bad experience. No probs if not. I hope things improve and all goes well for you.

Cheers,

kettlefiller.

Hi

I think i have seen your posts on another site and I think we are with the same agent... very slow, high turn over, I have done all the chasing, made calls to Aus regarding our SS. I am always mailing- have to say the replys i have had are quick but they have messed our application up as they first put me down for a 175 but my skills are on list 2 so i have had to go for a SS.

Reading the main application we could of put this in last year before I sat my IELTS as it states on the form date of exam... so I was not happy with them. I just hope whilst the SS takes about 2-3 weeks to come back they will have sorted the main application.

I hope you get yours sorted soon

Hi admich

Are you using a MARA-registered migration agent?

https://www.mara.gov.au/agent/ARSearch.aspx?FolderID=394

If not, are your agents based in the UK?

If you are using un-registered agents based in the UK, do you have any sort of written agreement with them? I'm asking because I'm trying to discover whether threatening to sue them might give them the necessary kick up the jaxi.

If it is an agent in E&W and you have a proper service agreement with them, it should contain a "jurisdiction clause" that says words to the effect of, "the provisions in this contract are governed by the Law of England & Wales..." It should also state exactly what they will do in return for your money etc.

Please let me know.

Cheers

Gill

Hi Adsmich, apart from the change over in agents, the same kind of thing happened to us. My OH was so p***ed off and said he wouldn't go through all the paperwork again. We was about to give up on the whole thing but after talking to friend we are now going for the 475 visa as we have paid a lot of money to the agent so he might as well do something for it!!!

Lol, hope it all works out in the end for you

Denni

Hi, I have never used an agent and applied for our visa's myself and got PR visa's it is not difficult at all.(applied twice as we are ping pong poms and totally mad !!) I have never understood why anyone would use an agent?? I am not an academic person and work in care and I found it easy. Basically you have to supply all the info and documents so why pay for someone else to send it. It can all be done online now which is so much easier and you can keep track yourself of how your application is going. Maybe some visa's are harder to get? I only know about a subclass 176. I also had to get state sponsorship the 2nd time around as we did not have enough points.

Just a thought to anyone about to apply

Best of luck to all,

Debbie
