Applying online for a 176 visa

Recommended Posts

Hiya,

Hope everyone is well :->

We are applying online for our 176 visa and have filled out and saved 95%, we went back on the system tonight to complete the form so we can find out what comes next and what documents need uploading and certifying before our appointment at the solicitors 2moro and the online system is having maintenance or something so keeps crashing on us. Has anyone else applied online and if yes please could you advise what the last 5% questions are and what needs scanning in and uploading? Is it the same as the paper application? Also when you apply online do you fill out the form 80 online or is that incorporated in the main online application? Sorry for so many questions any help much appreciated.

Thank you xxx

Hi,

Can't remember what the last bit is exactly, might be all document uploads? are you going o a solicitor to get copies certified? not sure they are acceptable unless they are a notary.

Is form 80 to do with medicals? You only do it if they request it.

Paul.

Hi there, just had our evisa granted this week and we also did it ourselves. Sorry cant also remember the questions just know that it was one big head ache. Dont .panic about the uploads as i think you have 30 days, i seem to remember going to the solicitors with a heap of information to certify. Dont let them rip u off, i never made any appointment and turned up with all the employment history (wageslips, references, accounts, p60's passports, marriage certificates, birth certificates and as much proof as skill as possible, vestassess pass certificates etc..)i left it there for them to sign and returned later to pick them up with their letter head and business card. I never paid a penny and have been back on several occasions to get other things certified. maybe i was lucky or just bloody cheeky. once u have finished the application u are given a TRN number and then you use this to upload documents that are further requested. hope this helps. I remember feeling sick as a dog filling it in just incase i messed it up. Good luck xx

Thank you for all your replies, website was back up and running again today so managed to take the next step which turned out to be the payment page! Feeling very nervous now that it's submitted, will hopefully feel much better once we have been allocated a CO and have confirmation that we have not made any mistakes. The solicitor was brilliant, she only charged us £10 to certify everything so very pleased with that, she said she has done loads of Oz visa's which hopefully means that all the docs will be ok. Booked medical today for 9th June and will be filling out police check forms tonight so only thing left now is to get some electronic passport photo's and hopefully that ticks all the check list boxes for now. No mention of Form 80 so I'm wondering if we will need to do that later?!? Will upload all the documents together once we have the photo's in a few days, hope that will be ok.

BIG FINGERS X for a successful visa application :smile2: Exciting and nervous all at once!!!

Hi All

We are in about the same place, so to help the Coombers, we were requested to submit the form 80 (Penal Clearance?) at the same time as we got the request to do the medicals. Bit surprised you haven't been asked for that along with the medicals too.

If u have ur TRN, then you should be able to go to the DIAC website (www.immi.gov.au) and drill thru to see the progress of ur application - should have a list there of everything your CO wants you to submit.

It's worth checking to see if the requirements have been MET (I assume this means docs received) or if they are still showing as REQUESTED...

Anyway - best of luck with the application! :)

Hi All,

New to this site, we are a family of 6 from Ireland and have also just lodged our 176 visa. Just wondering do we wait until a CO has been assigned to do our medicals and get the police checks or do we just go ahead and get them done, I'm quite nervous because we've done everything ourselves too and don't want to feck things up at this stage.. Might be a silly question but how do you go about getting electronic passport photos, I have just scanned in 2 pictures for each of us and wrote the name beside each picture.

Also, does anyone know what the time frame is now for processing?

Thanks a mill.

Pauline

p.s. great site!!

Hi

Good question - we were told that we could not get the medicals done before getting the CO assigned, as the clinic in Edinburgh use eHealt, and that you need a HAP id for them to be able to do this. Having said that, it seems from other postees(?) that you can front load the police checks and medicals - as long as you have your TRN as a reference I guess the clinic can find you - but this is my first time applying for a visa so I'm not sure what I say is Gospel - I don't know if it is down to the clinics to specify a HAP id (eHealth database reference I think), or not. Police checks shuld be OK - we didnt have to supply a ref number for any of that, but they are not indefinite - so you could get a police cert and have it go out of date before your CO gets round to you - although I think this is VERY unlikely..??

Dunnoi about electronic passport photos - I have also just used the ones from the Photo booth machines for all of the forms, although I am doing this via an Agent and send everything to them first. Hope this helps some.#Best of luck with your application :)

Hi there. With the photos, we just got copies of the passport size photos certified and uploaded the document. we waited until we hada case officer for the medicals and police checks. we had to put our application on hold while we had our second baby. Bear in mind that you only have 1year validity from the medicals and police checks. once visa is granted they go from them dates. We therefore do not have much time left on our validity

Hiya, thought I'd update you on our progress in case it helps anyone in anyway. We booked our medicals straight after submitting our application online (29.5.12) without a CO being allocated as it was requested on our document check list and when the medical centre checked the e-health site we were already on there and said they will submit the results directly on to the site. A couple of days later we got an email from immigration with a document check list similar to the one online but with the extra form 80 and form 1221 so we have now filled those out and will be uploading as soon as I've scanned them (still no mention of the forms online tho). We also sent our police check forms off before being allocated a CO as again it was on the list. Quicker than we anticipated we got an email this morning (5.6.12) from our allocated Case Office requesting both medicals and police checks so I don't really think it matters too much either way. We used passport photo's from the machine, scanned them in and cropped them down to size but have not got confirmation that these are ok yet but thought considering they already had a certified copy of our passport information and picture page that it will be ok. No idea how much longer things will take but so far the time frame has been much faster then we were told it would be.

If anyone could let us know how long there's took when they submitted online that would be really nice to know. Thank you

Good luck everyone applying. xx

Just a quick note to say that I've just checked our online document check list and our passport photo has now been changed to 'MET' which means that scanning in and cropping was obviously deemed sufficient. xx

Hi our visa took a couple of months to get not long at all and we waited to get told to go for our medicals so could have been quicker!! Good luck with it all. You then get a year from either the date the police checks or medicals were done ( which ever you do first) to go and validate the visa.(that's how long we had)
