landr
Hi, Just looking for some contacts for when we get out to Perth mid-September. My partner is a senior physiotherapist with the NHS. Having completed all his junior rotations he was promoted to pilot a new scheme which was a great success and he is now at the forefront of providing care to staff at the hospital. I am a little more tricky, I qualified in beauty therapist back in 2007 at TAFE and then moved back to England in 2009 to pursue a good make-up course. I have since qualified in NVQ 3 beauty therapy covering massage, aromatherapy, tanning, hot stones and indian head massage. I have always worked in hospitality and have not been able to get in to the beauty industry. I am looking for a position that will allow me to build on my skills and am aware it will probably need to be a junior position. I am a permanent resident and we are just waiting for my partner to get his visa which is due to be granted mid-August. We will be living in the Caversham area when we arrive but will have transport and willing to travel. We both need full-time positions. If anyone could be of any help I would really appreciate it! Desperate to get out of hospitality! Thanks Laura

landr
Hi, Its a self referral scheme for staff at the hospital aimed and reducing time off sick. I have sponsored him as I am an Australian resident. How did your partner get his job in the city? Is it private or public? My partner is used to working in hospitals and I think that would be his preference to begin with rather than private work.
Jo1977
that sounds like a good scheme.. My partner is working in private practice. I am looking at public hospitals too (but part time). I haven't quite worked out the system but I believe he should look at: http://www.health.wa.gov.au for all public jobs rather than approaching the individual hospitals. Be interested to know how he gets on..if i find anything else out I will let you know. good luck in your job hunting too!
emmawild22
Hi there I too am a physiotherapist...working with children! It's not the easiest to find jobs advertised in oz but i just trundled thru various agencies and stumbled on one...Actually got offered it to so we are hopefully heading out in Sept (if hubbies sponsorship gets sorted asap!). The website above is also pretty good and when i went to oz a few years ago, that was how i landed my job. What I say is that a lot of work gets comissioned out to private companies or not for profit organisations so they are worth looking at.....what sort of area is he interested in? The same as before? I managed to find a lot of companies listed on the government disability info site which opened a few more doors to websites and therefore vacancies. May be worth considering! I will be based maddington way but living just SOR so if people fancy meeting new people we'll be there and going thru the same stuff at the same time! Jo1977
Thanks Emma I initially did outpatients, then moved into inpatients (ortho mainly and respiratory) in nhs and then did some locum work in in-patients. I hope to do ortho, hydro or some outpatients..i am returning to work after 2 years off for an injury (broken wrist would you believe) so basically will work wherever anyone will employ me! Would be good to meet up once there. How long are you going to Oz for? permanantly? we are going for one year..
emmawild22
Hi What a nightmare! I'm sure you'll find something...there is apparently plenty of jobs! There were quite a few recruitment pools on the western australia health website so they might be worth looking at. We're planning on the oz thing being a permanent move as we want a better lifestyle for us and jess.....guess only time will tell if it ends up permanent!
