Guest annie
its great to see youre at that stage Piccolo! best of luck with the rental, What area are you moving into. After all the debating over trying to choose between margaret river, busselton and bunbury i think it looks as if we will live south bunbury area. it will be a 100km hike for my OH for work but my OH visited some schools and looks like it will be bunbury. That is so sweet of phil offering to help out, some really good people on this site. We are getting closer to my OH getting his accreditation sorted. hopefully we will know in the next few weeks. have you been happy with the rentals you viewed? Good luck with the shopping!!! piccolo
thanks jackboots! Annie....we are probably going to Dalyellup. My experience so far of South Bunbury is that it's a stunning area with mostly private owners and beautiful houses. However, the houses that are up for rental are older but still quite expensive. We viewed one there this afternoon that was nice but the owners must really like brightly coloured tiles as they were everywhere and gave me a headache just looking at them! But I guess it depends on taste too! It was $390 a week and near the beach but a bit too old for me. Whereas Dalyellup rentals are all new houses, some nicer than others and can go from $340 a week up to $460ish. We thought we would find something suitable for $400 a week but we've had to increase our budget to $450 to get what we're after, which is a modern newish house. Dalyellup is however, a little further away from the city centre and it's rows and rows of houses....a bit of a maze actually I find! So it depends on what you want really, hope that helps some! Best of luck!
Guest annie
Just wondered if yard sales were popular in Australia. we lived in the states for 2 years and i have such fond memories of furnishing an apartment by visiting yard sales. And its a great way to recycle and move items on. hope you are settling in well.annie
piccolo
Ya there's seems to be a good few garage sales alright, it's just a pity we're not in Bunbury to be there for 8am! But we'll get there, I'm now looking to buy second hand dining furniture and sofas too as the money is dwindling and we thought it might be better to spend it on new appliances so we know they're in good order and have a warranty etc.

It needs lights and about $60 worth of work but it's a good bike. He will have a 10km cycle to work from our house....he'll be fit as a fiddle! Guest Legal Angel
I'm looking to buy second hand white goods and am in the Bunbury area? Fridge/Freezer, Washing Machine. Thanks Hi Piccolo I'm not in Bunbury, quite a distance from it in fact, but I am returning to Ireland in 5 weeks and have a household load of furniture to off load - all bought less than 12 months ago. QS bed, pigeon pair fridge/freezer, top loader washing machine, table and 6 chairs, 2 sets of chest of drawers and bedside tables x 2, coffee tables, 2 x 32in tv's, 4 x coffee tables, outside setting, 10ft pool and bits that go with it. If you were interested in a spin, you might want a job lot and I could do a deal. I sold the sofas today. I have a car to sell as well. I was just about to list them all and the prices on the site when I saw your post. Anyway if you're interested just pm me. Good luck with your rental Andrea Edited June 17, 2012 by Legal Angel spelling

Philpom
Piccolo have you been to look at Fullers Second hand furniture. Never been there myself so not sure what they have. I know they do a lot of second hand office furniture but I am pretty sure they do household furniture as well. They are near Retravision. piccolo
No Phil, had only been to the Furniture Spot, will check it out. Ended up buying new washing machine, fridge and tv. Got second hand sofa for $90, delighted! Legal Angel, my OH's brother lives in Nollamara so we will be up soon but I'm just wondering if there's any way you could email me pics before I make the journey out to you? Thanks. PM me maybe and I can give you my email. Hi Jen, going well but we're still a bit unsettled while we wait to move into our rental on Friday. Our container arrives in July and I'm beginning to think I should've left half of it behind!! We got the house rented through rent allowance in the end but due to the fact that the tenant moved in on the 22nd of the month, the social welfare didn't pay her the rent allowance for that month so we were 920 short on rent the first month. I wasn't too impressed but what could we do from here? We used her deposit to cover our mortgage and she'll just get her deposit back minus that month's rent allowance when she leaves. I just pray there are no more rent issues or we'll have a problem. The weather has been awful here I'm sorry to say. We had a bad storm for 3 days and we lost power in the house we're staying in!! Just like being at home! But it seems to have passed now and it's nice and mild. Wasn't the best intro to our new home though!! Best of luck on the trip over.
