Steve and Paula
Hi Emma, Thanks for that, we did make it to New Zealand yesterday and am so impressed with how well the kids did on the flights! Obviously we're tired but we all slept through our first night in NZ so am pleased with that too! Now we just relax and wait to arrive in Perth on Aug 12th. It has been a very busy and stressful last few weeks so relaxing is a must. Still can't believe we're here and so close to being in Oz. The dream is pretty much a reality! Too exciting! Chat soon and would love to meet up on Angelo Street. Paula
J&T
Tracey!hope you're visit is/has gone well! Where are you thinking you'll base yourself? THought i'd touch base with everyone to let them know i'm still around and thinking of you all! Emma x Hi Emma, Just been catching up on this thread as haven't been on here for a while. How's things going? See you have booked your flights for 7th Sept! We're flying with Singapore Airlines on 6th Sept! Had booked a 3 week furnished rental at Spearwood, now looks like our furniture is heading out a little later than planned, so desperately looking for another furnished rental for another couple of weeks (it's getting tough)! We had a good reccie, drove round loads of suburbs, looked round some schools, houses, car garages, shops etc., As we're going out on a business visa, where we live really depends on where the business we buy is. We saw some businesses whilst we were there, have been searching from the UK for a while, a couple of businesses in the pipeline, but nothing sorted yet. So where we are heading at the moment is completely unknown. Are considering renting close to Perth, so commuting isn't too far! (Don't want to rent a house too far south and then end up with a business in Joondalup or somewhere!!). So far, (from previous holidays in Oz and our recent reccie), from what we have seen, our favourite suburbs are; NOR - Currambine, Connolly, SOR - Baldivis (Definately our favourite so far), Secret Harbour (2nd favourite). Also liked Leederville, Subiaco areas, but didn't get chance for find out much about the communities around there. There were quite a few other suburbs that we had "a good feeling" about too and some we just didn't like. I don't want to name these places as everyone's opinions differ and I don't like getting into arguments if you know what I mean. Lol Drove round lots of suburbs close to Perth, up to Hillary's and down to Mandurah and some of the hills in between. Could have done with more time, but hey-ho, we saw as much as we could in a week! PM me if you like! Tracey x PS, Congratulations on getting your visa!! :smile2: Edited August 4, 2012 by J&T
emmawild22
Hi Tracy THings are getting close now huh? Can't believed we'll be there one month tmw...eeekkkk! I am really excited and seem to have avoided the emotional dips over the past couple of weeks although i'm beginning to wonder how long it will be before i get them again....no doubt Jess' 1st birthday 13th aug) will do it as we have all the family up at the weekend and it will be one of those occasions that emphasises how much we'll miss them...:-( WE're still waiting to hear where we will be based for the 1st monthand then it will be a mad panic of sorting out a rental for after....still thinking SOR but guess it depends on what's available at the time! We like Baldivis but not sure whether it will be too far with me working in Bassendean 1 day a week (other 2 days are maddington so wouldn't be too bad).....so also looking at success, atwell etc. Still, as you say, it will no dout be interesting to see what wefeel like when we have investigated a bit! I'm impressed that you managed a reccie in just a week.....pretty manic i bet but at least you have a better idea now! Are you getting excited yet? Emma x Yeah, we covered just over 2000kms during the week, lol! Very excited, we've now booked a hire car and removals booked today, so it's starting to get to the point where we're pinching ourselves! Feels like time is moving so quickly now! Been spending time say goodbyes to various friends and family. Said goodbye to all my old uni friends today, - still can't believe it's finally happening! Ooh, your daughter's 1st birthday is going to be tough for you all. I feel for you. Will your family come out to visit? Are they all okay with you going? My mum cries now nearly everytime I talk to her, and my in-laws are coming across a bit more resentful towards us. We totally understand, there's too many emotions flying around at the moment, it hard at times, and sometimes we feel so guilty for being so excited! Are you shipping any furniture out? Happy 1st Birthday to Jess for Monday!! Tracey x
emmawild22
Hi tracey! You have been busy...lol! All the emotional stuff is tough huh? I know I'm going to miss everyone soo much but it's not really hit yet!.guess I'm guess I'm lucky that my folks want to move out when dad retires in 3 years so that makes things easier....they've already booked to come out at xmas! I just have to get thru a couple of years of missing them and then they'll hopefully be joining us...that would be fab! I think the weekend may start to bring home the fact that we re going but right now I'm excited....it s kind of weird tho that i'm not that emotional et...... Io normally cry at everything so i'm worried that I'm bottling it up/ in denial that it's happening! It must be tough with ur mum and the in laws being that way...we're lucky that my folks are supportive (even tho I know my mum is up and down cos of how much she'll miss us)....hubby's folk are less supportive (they are outwardly but I know things have been said) and I think they expect us to be back before too long! I know rick's mum is really low at the mo...and that upsets me....you feel like ur bring selfish and taking the precious grandchild away but we're doing this FOR her!...and I totally understand your feeling of guilt for being excited! We're sharing a container with one of Rick's work colleagues who is also moving out so that's been dead handy and cut down costs.....we're taking.most stuff to get us going and then we'll replace it as or when! Shippers come 3rd Sept! We've not even sold.our house yet...eeekkkk. Scary stuff.... Have you got kids?.can't remember what you said? We have 4 children, daughter aged 14 in 2 weeks time, son aged 13 in October, and 2 younger boys aged 9 & 7 years. We have found someone to rent our house for the next 12 months at least, would have preferred to sell, but nothing's selling round here at the moment. Our shippers are here 28th & 29th August. We've still not got the car permit yet, so don't know still if it's coming with us or not. I started packing our suitcases 2 nights ago. It's now less than 3 weeks til we go and I'm starting to panic. Still have 2 cars to sell, loads of furniture, books, clothes etc., I don't feel ready yet, we still have too much stuff and the house needs painting and decorating etc., How has it been for you lately?
