We want to move to Perth. ASAP!!!!! House is on the market.......(i know, crap timing) just the whole visa thing now!!! Already have transcripts, ref, copies of legal doc's, gp pack and school packs.... Do we try and do the 'skilled visa' thing on our own??? If not, which aganecy do we use????? One agancy, said it would take around 9months, another said 12-18months!!!!!! One agency was £1300 and another £1800??????

Can anyone HELP!!!!!!!

Greatly appreciated

We came on a skilled visa and it took 7 months. You can do it alone - nursing is probably one of the easiest to submit. Firstly submit your skills assessment to the ANMC - when yu get that back you can proceed with the PR application. I would suggest the 175 visa rather than the 457 which is classed as temporary, and you would then have to apply for PR status at a later date.

hi...if you want to get over quick then there is a healthcare agency called geneva...been going about 15yrs.....they do not charge you at all...just register an interest with them or phone...they contact you back very quickly and send you docs to register with a state board....once this is done they set up phone interviews with hospitals....once offered a job you get a number to send off for your sponsorship visa....457 visa costs are much cheaper and the visa lasts for 4years, in which time you can apply for perm res....its quick and of course you go over with a job to go to!!....the agency are very helpful and guide you through each step...they told me 6months is the usual time from start to finish!!!...a friend of mine used them and has been in sydney for 2yrs now applying for pr.....i have contacted them and am looking towards queensland as i have read perth sometimes want nurses to complete a further bridging course and as i did my training before the diploma course i think i may need to do it....if you know anything about this i would be grateful!!!.....hope you get sorted...mel...

Hi Michelle

I didn't use an agency for our TRA - i did it myself cause I thought the form wasn't too difficult and the agencies were charging silly amounts. The form was sent 2 weeks ago and we received acknowledgment on Friday but I am a little worried now in case it is turned down, but I suppose I knew there was a risk before I sent if off. My OH is a dental technician and on the MODL too so I just hope i did everything right. I heard some people say that even though they used an agency they still need to do alot of running around anyway??

I will do the visa application myself too - but will pay to get it checked before I send it just to be on the safe side. There is loads of support on here and I feel i get most of my answers from real people who have gone through the process personally. Its a personal decision to go through an agent - i just felt someone was making money from me and lots of it - i just hope it doesnt come back to bite me in the bum!

Good luck and keep in touch

Sharon

I didn't have to do any further courses, I contacted hospitals directly, expressing interest and sending CV, I had a telephone interview and was offerred a post before my visa was granted ... therefore had a job to come to. The beauty of the PR visa is that if you don't like the hospital you're working in you can move, apply for promotion at other hospitals etc. With the temp visa, you'd have to get someone else to take over your sponsorship within 28 days. Additionally, you'll have to work full time on a 457, where with the 175 you'll be able to apply for the hours that suit you.

Don't forget that whilst you can apply for PR in Aus, you still have to pay and that can also take a few months
