i transferred my uk pension before we left, it didnt cost me anything in fees, it was pretty painless, ive noticed here that some companies charge you a commission and basically want you to sign up with them.

hope this helps

julie

Hi Irene

I do work for a company that does charge a fee for transferring your pension from the UK to Australia. Some companies do not charge for this but their superannuation fees can be high and there are often hidden costs.

We have no hidden costs - we are independant it is your choice (as long as the fund has QROPS status - qualifying recognised overseas pension scheme) you can put the transfer payment where you choose. We have financial planners we can recommend and all the fees will come out of your superannuation fund so there is no money to pay up front.

We are a firm of accountants and the pension section is made up of people who have migrated from the UK and understand both and Australian and UK systems. We have experience and also deal with 'topping up' the UK State Pension which is payable here if you have any questions please contact me Jill Lockwood on 0061 8 9444 3400 or jlcokwood@uhyhn.com.au

Sorry it took a long time to reply but we have only just got to what we hope is the final stage of our visa. So all being well should find out soon if we are on our way. We are over in Perth from December for 10 weeks so wondering if you have a office where we could come to in Perth to see if it is worth while bring my husband private pension over.

or genesys wealth advisors in west perth - they can do the transfer and organise an aussie fund for you - you have choice where you want it invested....and its classed as money you've put in post tax, so it won't be taxed again, plus once you reach retirement age here, it's tax free (you can start drawing on it from 55, before pensionable age)

Further to your enquiry, regarding transferring/ tracing any benefits you may in the UK .and transferring these benefits to an Australian QROPS Scheme. I work for a firm of Chartered Accountants in Perth, we are not Financial Planners and we specalise in transferring pensions from the UK and topping up UK State pension benefits.

Having migrated myself 7 years ago from Manchester, I fully appreciate that this is a minefield for you.

If I can be of any further assistance then please ring me on 9444 3400 or email cpieniazek@uhyhn.com.au

You will obtain some valuable information and facts by looking at our website www.ukpensiontransfers.net.au

We look forward to hearing from you.

Hi everyone.

Just thought I would offer my services to those interested in this area.

I am a Financial Planner in WA. I offer a UK Pension transfer and advice service that has proven very popular. There are several companies out there that will collect the info on your UK pension and organise the transfer, but none that offer advice on what to do with the funds when they are transferred. Many companies organise the transfer and then refer you to a Financial Planner, who can provide advice but then must charge you again.

Where I differ and what is popular with my clients is that I offer a full service. And I charge a fixed $ fee based on the amount of work I do, not a percentage of the funds transferred over from the UK.

As with all financial advice, everyone's circumstances are different and there is not a 'one-size fits all' solution. There are so many options out there and both pro's and con's to having your funds in Australia with you. As part of the service we can look at all aspects of your financial life and ensure you are on track to meet your goals.

Anyone who would like further info get in touch or register for one of my seminars. More info on www.ukpensions.merideon.com.au.
