Me and my son are not coming out till end Oct with house etc to sort out. It is now starting to sink in. It was my idea for him to go before us and his family are not happy. He is worried and I can't believe it was my idea. It is just that you read so much about rents hard to get and expensive. Not as meany jobs for us Brits. It took me exactly a month to get everything sorted (a job, a house rental, a car, banking stuff, WA drivers license etc) and only then did my wife and two kids join me. It worked out far better like that and definately easier for all of us. I was fortunate to stay with friends for that month while I tried to sort everything out. I found a job on my 3rd day, a car in 10 days ($5000) and a rental in 30 days. We came out to Perth from London with only $15 000 and have managed pretty well so far. Good luck with your move. I'm leaving wife and three kids behind till end of Oct .We reckon I'll need that time to secure rental, buy car. container arriving late Oct. We think it would be more stressful on the family if we all traveled together.I'm going out with $5000 so it will be all work and no play for me. Although i got a bit stressed in that last week having it all on my plate to do and OH having to sort things this end on his own i would say it was def for the best. We had a rental with some furniture to move straight into and OH had a bit of experience by then on what was what. Has made it a lot easier for me to settle. We are lucky that I have already secured a job, but I'm not worried about it at all anymore, que sera - just looking forward to getting there. We have got rid of our house for when I leave so he is going to stay with parents for 6 weeks to save money - I kind of think he got the raw end of the deal in that respect! :biglaugh:I am just hoping the furniture arrives on time for when I sort a rental or I'll be sleeping on a camp bed! I found a list of plumbing firms, sent off my resume, got a phone call asking to go for an interview, got the job. Well, we all came out here together but we went back (and then came out again at half term, and now we're back for a whole month), so we haven't actually joined him yet! It's definitely the best thing for him to come alone and for you to wait to see how he gets on first. Sure, you'll miss each other like crazy but the worst thing would be to get over here and then all be struggling. Hoping he finds work quickly. He's not an engineer by any chance is he?!! For us, it was tough as we are extremely close as a couple and as a family.
