We keep hearing there is a boom in Construction in WA but where are the jobs - we're sooooooooooooo keen to come over but as yet can't get sponsorship. Awaiting results of skills test - sent 12 weeks ago - seems like an absolute lifetime. O/H got 7.5 in IELTS too .................... Just can't wait...... :arghh:

Hi my husband is a qualified bricklayer with over 15 years experience also a qualified site manager. He passed his skills test with VETASSESS Nov'11 and passed IELTS in March 2012. We have put in an expression of interest to Western Australia (2nd July 2012) but heard nothing yet. Have tried for a sponsor but to no avail as of yet. Anyone out there could offer him a job that would be great

What do you actually do in the Construction industry and I may be able to advise.

Hi My husband is a Site Manager here in UK - has been for about 20 years. He also worked in Brisbane as a Construction Foreman on a Building Associate visa. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Can you not apply for a visa as opposed to sponsorship. I am a site manager also and gained PR a few months back.

HI - OH is awaiting the results of skills test - sent off end of May - hoping to hear soon. also done IELTS too. Then I believe we apply for WA sponsorship, then the visa........ phew! But in the meantime looking for a company who would sponsor him so maybe we would get there quicker.... :) Who you gonna work for when you go over?

The skills test was the longest stage, think it took 12 weeks, not a nice wait. It was straight forward after that. Good luck with it all. I have no idea who I will be working for. I have sent out a few resumes, most to no reply. A couple of companies have asked me to make contact upon arrival. Agencies are obviously positive and again have urged me to make contact nearer the time. Not overly worried, it will be alot easier upon arrival. Again, good luck

Yeh 10k is all I will be landing with. We only have one two year old, so not as high maintenance as your lot I guess. I am a Site Manager from a joinery background also. I will let you know how we get on, I have heard McDonalds are recruiting:smile:. Good luck with it all, keep in touch.

Exactly the same here mate, had own business for 11 years now, busy as hell and giving it all up .

the thing that scares me is having nothing on arrival.

finding job, rental, school , transport , winning lottery numbers

Cheers

Hi Jon

I see you are from Warrington, me to a long time ago now. When are you due to arrive?

I need a site manager now for a client of ours.

Hi Dean, i hope you do not mind me jumping in on the thread and your reply.

My husband is a site manager and we are moving out at the end of October (although we could do this sooner if necessary), have perm residency.

If you would be able to forward your contact details, we could be in contact regarding any potential opportunities.

Many thanks

hi there

the best person to contact is tavis.shearer@dhappointments.com.au he runs my civil side of the business. if you email your resume and tell him that I told you to contact him. Also if you can mention when you are coming over. Tavis in on holiday as of next week so he may respond to you after then.

He is looking for 15 concrete finishers urgently I know that.
