Want to move to secret harbour area, any veiws on it please?

Me and my family are trying to emigrate to perth. We were looking to live in ROckingham/Secret Harbour that sort of area but are not really sure what it is like there. i have read lots on the internet but they only ever tell you the good things. Ive heard it is very good for familys

They're both great areas, but you need to visit to decide what suits. Perth is amazing for families - I can think of no better place to bring up children. I really really mean that. But it is also the most expensive place I have ever known. And not just for good things, for EVERYTHING!

We are looking at Secret Harbour as well. We know Perth and have family in Mandurah and the Hills as well and whilst its still a paper based exercise, it does seem to tick a lot of boxes, espcially if your budget is beloe $550k for a house. Long commute to town if you work in the city, but hopefully being close to the beach, possibility of a pool, reasonable scholls etc and quiter suburb with a good community feel will be a good thing.

 

Just need to sell the house in Edinburgh first ....

There's already loads on here about Secret Harbour as everyone wants to live there for some unknown reason. May be because that's the only place they hear about on here. Schools are below reasonable, but that's your choice, house with a pool might be a bigger priority then education. I've just typed in 4X2 into Domain, $550,000 and there are houses in much better areas,better schools but oh dear, you may have a 15 mins drive to the beach.

regarding your comment above, please could you tell me your reasons for saying below reasonable schools? What would you consider better areas 15 mins away from the beach? I am only asking as SH is somewhere I've been looking but have teenage girls to put in a good school, where would you recommend?

Why do you infer that people who choose to live in Secret Harbour are putting their need for a pool above that of their child's education? People move to the area for a variety of reasons, if the local school is not to your taste then there are private schools in the area with good reps such as Kolbe, Freddie Irwins or Mandurah Baptist. You make it sound as if anyone who moves there chooses to be a selfish parent. Now whilst SH is not to my taste I can understand why people choose to live there, you do seem to have bee in your bonnet about the area though.
