Rosshf
Hiya, please could someone give us some advise on what information we need to put together to give to landlords/rental agents when we are applying to rent a property in Perth. Thank you in advance. Xxx Hi There a few threads on this, here is one: http://www.perthpoms.com/forum/renting-real-estate/5506-forms-required-rental.html It appears you need to prove you have a regular income or cash, ID, a reference and some people include a statement about themselves. A few other things are mentioned too. I've put together copies of some documents and hoping they will suffice. In my pack I've included: a statement about me and my family (a pic of us), copies of driving licences and passports, bank statement, rental agreement (to show I'm renting my UK home), copy of visa grant letter. I don't know whether this is overkill, or not enough, but will find out in a few weeks time. Think I might e-mail an agent and ask them. Guest Langy
I own some rental property in Perth. We use an agent and they always discuss the prospective tenants with us. To get presented you must complete a rental agreement and sign it. It becomes legally binding once we sign it. That's the thing about WA real estate, it's so much better done than in the UK. No gazumping or buggering about until contracts are exchanged. The very first thing that happens here is the exchange of contracts. When we look at prospective candidates we prioritise steady income earners, people who are likely to commit to a longer lease and no pets/smokers. Being offered more than the asking price always gets our attention as does being given the whole 6 months rent up front. And, yes, this is something that happens quite often. It's a good rental market for the landlord right now I'm afraid.

Guest waterkelpy
To secure a rental now a days is quite tough. What most people are doing now is paying 6 weeks to 6 months in advance, and sometimes in cash too. 99% of the time it will gurantee that you will get the house. But in saying that paying the rent is the same as paying morgage. Hubby and I are paying $100 more in owning our own home!
