Well yesterday I had my first experience of an Australian hairdresser. What can I say had my hair coloured and the girl who did it thought she was painting a fence no customer relations did not speak a word to me through out only to discuss what colour etc. Hair colour good same as back home as same product used. Please can anyone recommend a hairdresser in Rockingham that speaks . I went to JTs in the shopping centre and my experience was erm different wont be going back there though.

Hi Elfie,

This salon may be a bit far for you but I was recommended a salon in Padbury called Indigo and have been a couple of times and have been really happy with the cut. It's a girl called Sally who cut my hair, she had her own salon in Edinburgh then opened up here when she moved over. The salon is really busy which is a good sign and the staff are all lovely. She opens late on a Wed n Thurs.

Indigo Hair Design, 6/6 Blackwattle Parade, Padbury Tel- (08) 9402 4400 $55 for a cut and blow dry $40 for a regrowth colour

Hairdressers in WA suck big time.... they are con merchants (like most things in WA lots of money for little return) as a hairdresser my advice is to go to the salons where you can walk in and wait, there is no and I mean no difference in the quality of the cut etc, just a lot of difference in the price. Obviously the best result is to find a Brit hairdresser that works from home or will come to you.

Oh my god! The prices you guys are paying? It sounda like you are paying their rent I reckon!

i am in Geelong Vic at the mo but we are coming up there as soon as we can organize work, but in the salon am at, we charge $50 for a colour, regrowth or all over, $80 for a makeover which is half head foils, full tint trim and finish! $30 for a haircut, $45 for a restyle, The twins I work for own 3 salons, and the 3 of us get booked out solid all week, no cheap and cheerful, just honest to goodness great work and staff, can get a bit mental at times, but it's always a great atmosphere, and we all look after everyone's clients, not just our own. We have taken sommany clients from so called high end places,on recommendation alone, as they seem to like charging you $40 to dry your hair after a service!

wait til I get up there guys, 7 yrs is a long time to find a good one, as moth said price is by no means quality in this case, Although don't tell my hubby that when it comes to my shoe shopping!,

Just shows, I live in London at the mo (coming out next Feb) and what you call expensive sounds very reasonable to me.

Finding a good Hairdressers is about trial and error. Am going to really really miss my London salon, compared to other salons is not expensive but it is gorgeous. You walk into reception and seat yourself on a beautiful chaise longe, opposite you is a luxurious padded bar. The salon itself is not harsh and modern but all Louis fourteenth style fade white and gold furniture, the mirrors are in big gold frames, you have your hair washed downstairs in a vaulted cellar lines with small gold coloured bricks.

If you order tea comes on silver tray with mini ornate teapot, tea cup and saucer, milk jug and biscuits. You can also however order wine, spirits and cocktails if you wish including cava cocktails.

I cringe now at harsh modernist salons, I have become very spoilt. I know I will be back to reality with a bump.

I would love a hairdresser to cut and colour my hair. I went to salon express as I was given a voucher to get 6 highlights in my hair when I bought a cut and blow dry. The whole thing cost me $170!!!! I nearl died and my hubby was none to pleased either. I just want to pay a reasonable amount for a good service. If anyone would be willing then I live in Baldivis. Im he mess walking about with a mop on my head :)

Hi lgibbons,

I am in Baldivis also and have only been here 2 weeks. I have been a hairdresser for 20yrs and i am setting up as a mobile hairdresser in the area. So if you want I can come round and give you a free consultation and discuss what you would like to have done. Let me know and I'll private message you my mobile number.

Kind regards

Katie

Think of it this way. $170 Aus is about £100. The cost of living in Perth is about twice that of the UK by all accounts and the wages are higher to take this into account. Therefore £100 would be £50 in UK if cost of living taken into account.

£50 to get your hair cut and coloured is seriously cheap!!!

I used to get my hair cut and coloured for 40 quid back in Glasgow and the girl always did my hair the way I wanted it! So that is why it was a shock to the system. I know its a higher cost of living here and Im happy to pay for a good service but not at $170 every 6-8 weeks. I sound like such a skint flint but maybe that is the Scottish in me lol. :)
