Djmarkharvey
Congrats!!!! when you planning on leaving this over populated country? our Agent said visa depend on lots on different priorities. Age, skill, and risk you offer to them. hoping to hear from them before Christmas, it's the feeling of being in limbo that is the worst thing! good to hear back from a fellow migrant. Guest buttons
We felt the same didnt want to tempt fate and plan anything before we had visa. Im a midwife so applied on skills list too. We are going next june to give ourselves time to save and organise everything. Hoping to have job and things by then. Hope you hear soon Kerry
Djmarkharvey
Hi kerry did you have to score an 8 on each on ielts? The whole process has made us come to dislike more elements in this country now, which is sad but hoping that OZ will offer so much more for our children. Guest bec36
Hi We got our 176 visa granted July last year, the whole process from start to getting it granted took about 6 months. I wouldn't advise selling your house just yet I would wait until you've got your visa first just incase of any problems (which I'm sure there won't be!) you should be able to track your visa status online. We (myself, OH, 2.5yr old little boy & German Shepherd dog) are only just in the process of selling our house now & hope to be in Perth in December this year, well the dog definitely will be as his flight & quarantine are all booked but we can't book our flights or accommodation until house sale goes through!!! It's horrible playing the waiting game.... Where abouts in Perth are you hoping to move to? Becky
Djmarkharvey
Hi bec we're thinking of tapping we ate flying out in April to check out things schools etc!!! Guest bec36
My OH friend has just moved to Tapping! NOR then, we're looking at SOR around Rockingham area initially but will depend on where the work is for my OH, he's a plumber. We done our reckie trip last Oct/Nov we spent 3 weeks in Perth checking out different suburbs to see where we liked etc & then spent a week on the Gold Coast with some friends who live out there. My OH went back out on his own earlier this year for nearly 5 weeks to see how the work situation is & to get more info on gap training, plumbing licences, housing etc. he also sorted out his tax file number, bank accounts etc. that's a few less things to do when we finally get there. Hope you get some good news soon. Bec
Guest buttons
Hi i had to have 7s in each part of ilets. And had to sit it twice as had a 6.5 was so annoying. Yes check your status online we did almost every day. We going through stress of arranging move now. Seems likeswapped 1 stress for another at the min but hoping itl b worth it. We renting uk house. Start to finish of visa around 8mths for us. Really need to find work now tho
Djmarkharvey
Me too Kerry I got 8 on all but reading 6.5 so had to sit it again, then it went the other way writing 6.5 but 8 on everything else. So third time passed!!!!! was so stressed out doing it, not sat an exam since 1992 and being in the building trade you don't generally write much :-) i would imagine you will find work ok in your profession. I'm a believer in graft so if you make the effort you will get your reward good luck anyway. Hey Bec we also like Rockingham but think that's around 50 min drive from centre isn't it? your OH should find work ok surely? I have a few painter and decorator friends all over Australia and they all had work within a week of arriving. Your adventure sounds great we are only going for a week in April as I have a company here so I'm needed and also the young ones away from mum and dad will be hard. so we have a lot to pack in, in a week hard work but that's what we're there for? have you looked in to health insurance? As I don't know where to start researching about it?
peps
It shouldn't take that long if all the requirement documents were lodged, it took a day to be granted the visa after submitting the last document they had asked for. All the best.
Guest bec36
Hi it's about 40mins or so for the airport, we haven't looked into healthcare yet but Medicare you can only sort out once you are actually there I believe. My OH is also self employed, he has had his own business for just over 20yrs so he will find it really hard working for someone! We found the work situation pretty slow out there so may take a few months for him to find something but he has quite a few contacts from our previous visits so hopefully something will come up! Sounds like you're going to have a pretty busy week when you go! But I wouldn't want to leave my little boy for any longer either. Guest bec36
We looked at FIFO but not sure it's what he'd really want to do, but if needs must then it might be an option. I've not heard of the simpy hired site before, will have a look at that, thanks. OH is signed up with a few agencies, Seek, Career One & Jobrapido. Might be worth you having a look at those ones as well, they do seem to be sending more emails through just lately, only thing is they're not really interested until you're actually living there!
