Hi

We were wondering what the age limit is to get into Perth... We were with an agency but they didn't do anything for us in time, we are in the UK (Scotland), my husband is now 45, he is a skilled carpenter/joiner with his own company and has lots of experience in the construction industry, Perth is we're we want to locate to, has anyone got any ideas or ways that we can still obtain a visa......

Any advice etc is greatly appreciated.......

Thankyou in advance......

It's been a few years since we went through the visa process for migration and the rules and goal posts have changed many times. My advice would be to have a chat to a registered migration agent regarding visa options and the requirements regarding skills assessments, recent experience etc. The link is from the dept of immigration website - this site is a great resource.

Skilled independant age limit is 50, all other sponsored visas is still 45 but your sponsor can claim exceptional circumstances, 457 has no age limit, but you may struggle to get sponsored to go PR, when you say construction do you mean commercial construction, huge mining industry here and you should have no problem getting sponsored on a 457 initially, if you mean housing construction then you could have a problem getting a sponsor for a 457, the house building industry is a little bit slow here but picking up

You need to be under 50 for all GSM and Employer Sponsored PR visas.

Ages 45-49 receive no points, therefore even if you went for 489 visa, it is very hard to reach the 60 points mark. Unless you have an occupation also on SOL 1, and able to apply partner points.

Try Overseas Emigration, also based in Edinburgh, but from what you have posted it it would be very difficult.
