Sorry meant to be Leeds to Mandurah!!

Hi,

just a quick introduction.

We are currently in the final stages of the application process having been invited, so its those dreaded medicals and police checks next on the list for us. Our timeline looks something like this (and I know how useful these things are to others who are just starting)

Skills Assessment (Cartographer) submitted July 2011 Failed December 2011

IELTS Exam taken and passed at the required level November 2011

2nd Skills Assessment (Program and Project Administrator) submitted July 2012 Successful August/September 2012

Expression of Interest Lodged September 2012

State Sponsorship for South Australia applied September 2012 failed (due to reaching capacity in occupation) November 2012

State Sponsorship for Western Australia applied November 2012 Successful December 2012

Invitation Received from DIAC December 2012

Medicals January 2013

Police Checks January 2013

Decision (hopefully due) March 2013

House on Market March 2013

Aim to be in Mandurah December 2013!

We are:

Donna (Wife) Customer Relationship Manager

Charlie (MotH) Project Coordinator

Kyle (11 years)

Coral (7 years)

Our interests are generally outdoorsy (surfing, kayaking, mountain biking etc.), arty, type of things, although the kids are both Judo players. We were originally planning on heading to Adelaide due to having been there before, have family there etc. However, having been knocked back we decided to look elsewhere and have fallen in love with Mandurah/Perth, so thankfully fate seems to be on our side. More than happy to make connections with people in Mandurah who have made the move or can offer any recommendations for schools etc.

I'm also on Linkedin if anyone wants to hook up and share knowledge/connections.

Cheers

Charlie

Hi,

@michelle- thanks will set my wife up with an id on here as I know that she and our children have a few questions about schools, clubs etc.

@stuart- Good luck, it took 20 days all in all for our State Sponsorship, which compared to South Australia is like lightening. Although I know how bad it is checking your email around 100 times a day, I couldnt sleep much either during those 20 days.

We currently live in Pudsey, near 4 Para. I work in Horsforth though on Lister Hill just near the Old Ball. I'm originally from Plymouth and Donna is from N.I although we both moved to Yorkshire when we were kids.

We are massively excited and have been doing what I suppose everyone else does:

Checking out houses, cars, schools, pretending to drive around the place (using google maps), liking any group/page on facebook which has anything to do with Mandurah and basically trying to make as many "work" connections on Linkedin as possible. Oh and listening to Coast fm.

On the DIAC side of things, how much of a nightmare is that site! I completed our application on New Years Eve and paid by card, and just as I hit submit the site froze! Took me two days to get back on thinking I had to put the payment through again, only to find that it had gone through and we were being told to book our medicals (next Friday 11th in Manchester). Crazy. Now I've managed to upload all my documents and evidence but cant upload for the rest of the family.

Ah well, hopefully in a months time this will all be as trivial as it sounds to those who are already there!

Anyway thanks again.

Take care
