4 weeks to go

It's 4 weeks today that we leave our Devon home ( and rain) for Perth.

Rushing around trying to finish off jobs , wife's getting things ready for the container ( comes a week on Monday).

having sleepless nights , worrying about leaving our safety bubble into the unknown .

But hey life's is given to us to live

People are starting to say there goodbyes ( I'm dreading saying bye to my youth football team of 6 years )

Can't wait to arrive , and let the adventure begin ( or a bloody expensive holiday )!!!!

Hi Ian,

we leave four weeks on Saturday, and your post could have been written by us!!- especially, "Or a Bloody expensive holiday"- same words uttered by my husband many times! Lets hope not!

I think we are well behind with the things we need to be organising- back to it tomorrow!

Good luck with the adventure all

Hi guys,

It is very scary , the trouble is 4 weeks will soon be upon us all.

we've never even set foot on Australian soil before so I'm very scared worried in one hand and looking forward to a new challenge in the other.

I've had my own business here in Devon for the past 11 years so its going to be strange not working for myself, leaving my contacts etc .

the children are getting excited , I just hope that they an settle so its makes our transition smoother.

we've got to find a suburb, rental, school, car etc

hopefully I might have a job , fingers crossed .

best of luck to all you guys on your new life adventure

take care and enjoy

We are very lucky a see will be staying with friends in Mindarie, when we first arrive.

Neither of us have jobs either and my husband also has his own business here, he is quite worried about working for someone else over in Australia, but will hopefully be OK!

The people we know with children who have gone over, have really settled well and love it in Perth.

It seems unreal, but will soon be very real!! Exciting too.

Take Care.

Very exciting times ahead! we came over 6 years ago with no kids and no jobs and no friends - and love it! I think people with kids do find it easier to settle as the kids really get into the school life and easily make friends which then opens up a social life for the parents too. We really had to force ourselves to put ourselves out there and join clubs and speak to strangers eek - but we now have a good group of friends, our own business and a life we could never have had in the UK.

Good luck with the rest of your plans, the goodbyes will be hard but with Skype etc the world really is a small place.

Good Luck to you all - migration is a scary journey at times, and it won't all go according to plan. Just be prepared for anything - be open to new opportunities and new friends, and you will do fine. Just remember that PerthPoms are a very supportive group of people and apart from wanting to know how you are, will be there for you if you have any queries and problems.

Exciting times Ian!

Soak up the goodness of the next four weeks.

Keep positive when you arrive and remember the reasons that made you to decide to emigrate in the first place. A positive mind puts you in a positive place. New beginnings means new opportunities that might not necessarily show up as you'd expect. Good luck to you and your family - 2013 will be like no other!

Yeah, I'm still working up north on a mine site. I'm back in Perth during xmas and will be back working in the furnace soon. It does get bloody hot up there and I'm not really looking forward to returning just yet! Perth is in the middle of a heatwave at the moment with temperatures hovering around 38 - 42 degrees since christmas. Its pretty uncomfortable, especially during the night but air conditioning is a real lifesaver!

When we can manage the time we can hook up over a few cold beers for sure.

Cheers
