tensovereignfold
Hi everyone, First time posting here so please forgive me if the answers are already on here somewhere ......... The wife, bambino and I are immigrating at the end of this year and no doubt will be posting lots of usual questions NOR or SOR etc later however the 1st major hurdle is OSCAR our amazing boxer dog. He is like our first child and can no way be left behind - BUT having read up on getting animals over there it sounds horrific small cages, no contact etc and we don't know what to do ........... Has anyone got any experience of taking pets with them. We know its a 30 day period and their is a place now in Perth but from what we can see we can only visit 1hr 3days a week - this is heart breaking for my wife as he really is her shadow. Any one anything can tell us would be fantastic ?????
Guest pauline.kelly.731
I brought my baby over (and when I say my baby I mean my baby lol) I thought the same as your wife in fact I couldn't even bear to think about it but do you know it flew in. You will be so busy when you arrive setting up home, banks, Medicare exploring etc that it turns out not a bad idea for your baby to be looked after. I visited too it was about a two hour drive from where I stay...broke my heart yes but he was well looked after. One day I arrived and the girls had him out in the garden while they were eating their lunch, they are very good. You are allowed to take him up treats too chew bars etc to keep him occupied. Honestly though the days will fly by you will have him back in no time!! Have you has his vaccinations yet? These need to be done six months prior to you leaving otherwise he will be unable to leave the uk. Good luck four weeks is nothing on the grand scale x
jamesw
The quarantine center in Byford is very nice and the staff are very friendly indeed to all the animals. We had 2 cats there and when the eldest one was ill, they kept us informed of the situation and allowed us to visit out of hours to be with the sick cat

rob-c
Byford is a bit of a way out, visiting times are very restrictive but they do look after the animals well. Your dog, like ours, will come out a bit thinner than he went in but otherwise ok. Flight crate had plenty of room for him to stand and turn around, you get it when he is released. If you are tempted to employ a dog walking company because you can't make the visiting times, beware, the one we used which we found on here, left us with several still unresolved issues and a lack of response when questioned, if you want the nam pm me
