Sammy1970
I will be earning circa $124k, and hopefully my wife who is a hairdresser will be in full time employment not long after we arrive, therefore unsure of her salary. I have a 457 business visa, therefore won't be applying for a mortgage until we are PRs, however can anyone advise us of our max borrowing capacity with a mortgage? Cheers
gazza18
Hi If you go on the websites of Australian Banks ie West Pac they have mortgage calculators for you to use so you get a rough idea what you can borrow Gary
Guest Hammer
Sammy, how are you getting on with your mortgage search? I can get you the definitive answer from one bank if it helps.
Admin
It's not really based on a salary multiplier in Australia. Your borrowing power is based on your income, number of dependants, financial commitments - loans etc, **combined credit & store card limits (NB: Not the amount you actually have on the cards, just the limits, so it's not really a good idea to have several cards even if they've a zero balance on them). Andrew Williams
Hi Sammy If you can tell me a break down of how the $124k is split between you and your Wife and whether you have children then I can give you an idea of borrowing power.
