Hello all.

I'm a 42 year old wonabe student!

I'm too old and don't have the right job qualifications to get perminant residancy in your great country. Therefor I have to retrain for a job on the SOL list. I've enrolled on a course at the Tafe college at Mandorah. We will be staying at my wife's sisters house in Bentley. We're moving to Perth late January. Because I'll be an impoverished student who can only work 20 hours a week, we'll be trying to save every cent. Is there anyone who regularly commutes to Mandorah who i could beg a lift off. I'll contribute towards fuel so both would be better off.

Regards

Gary

Hi Gary

I am presuming you have applied for TAFE at Mandurah? Which is quite a way from Bentley. If you are only staying with relatives for a short time the easiest thing will be to get the train from Perth to Mandurah... I would imagine if you ask at TAFE you will get a student card & can then buy a ticket which allows you to travel very cheaply on the trains & buses.

However if you are looking long term for the course you might be better to ask if the course is available at a campus closer to where you will be staying

Hello Eve

Many thanks for your reply. I did look into doing my course a bit closer to Bentley but they were all booked up. Being an old bugger of 42 I only have a limited time to do my course so it gets finished before my 45th birthday. My wife and I can then apply to stay. So that only gave us a limited space of when I could do the course. the good thing about going to Mandorah is I get additional points for studying at a regional college.

Your advice of getting a student card I think could save me a fotune so I look into that when I get there.
