Hello

I am doing my ilets on the 12 Jul. I am going to start to revise this week , I hope I have not left it too late!! I am going to apply for my skills assessment as soon as possible I noticed that you are going to apply 2 weeks before your ilets ? Can you do this ? I thought you had to have do the test prior to applying . I would be really grateful if you know more on this as I am patiently waiting until I take the test :Do you know if you have more chance of a positive skills assessment if you apply under a code ?

Good luck with your revision

:arghh: Hi Emma,I'm having a time of it with AHPRA to,not as bad as your situation though.I obtained my letter of...can't remember what us called, which meant my next step would be to appear in Perth office to fully register.Unfortunately it then took a year to sell my house which freed me up to secure a job,I'm being sponsored for perm residency but don't start till next October!,I explained this to them but they told me as it had been a year,I had to withdraw my application and reapply,I'm now in the process of doing that but see I need to sit ielts(which I am doing in August)and pass first time to register....does anyone know of this is right or am I reading the form wrong?.im also now totally stressing about passing the ielts to......

Hi everyone, I arrived in Perth at the beginning of April expecting my registration to be completed. Big mistake AHPRA have now taken 6 months after losing my first application and now 3 months after confirming receipt of the second with all documents requested. I have been offered a job but an unable to accept it and am now working as a Nurse Assistant for an agency just to try and pay our rent. I have been to the office in Perth many times and phoned on a daily basis and can confidently say it is the most dysfunctional and incompetent government department I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Whatever you do, do not come to Australia without being registered as you could end up going home like we will if it's not sorted soon. Luckily I had inheritance to bring but that is depleting fast. The easy bit was getting permanent residency the hard part starts with AHPRA. If anyone else is having a similar sort of issue please let me know. I am sure the Australian tax payers would like to know Nurses and their families are beinggiven permanent residency status but when they arrive instead of going to hospitals they are signing on for unemployment benefits and rent assistance which is exactly what I have had to do. I am at the stage where my husband and two children will be camping outside the AHPRA office with me in Perth with placards as I am banging my head on a brick wall. If anyone else is in the same position please contact me and come join us at the Office. Thanks, Emma

be careful if you plan for anmac to forward documents to aphra as ahpra doesn't accept soliciter needs to be justice of peace or notary public. Good luck

Also as of last year a migration agent can sign them. My agent Ian Harrop signed them and they were accepted.

Hi All, (I posted this on PIO)

Some of you know that I'm a nurse here in WA and as a senior nurse take part in the recruitment process. We have been forwarded information today regarding internationally qualified nurse and midwives from AHPRA, It says that on Feb 10th the NMBA implemented a new model to assess the qualifications of international nurses and midwives and that the new model applies to all applications that were incomplete as at 7th October 2013 or submitted after that date.. October 8 2013 was the implementation date when the previously published NMBA framework for the assessment of internationally qualified nurses/midwives for registration became no longer in use and was removed from the national board website.

It states that this model does not affect applicants registered as a nurse or midwife in New Zealand

The gist of it is that you will now need a degree and to meet the registration standards to be registered. It also states that the model is consistent with the requirements of the National Law by a set of clear expectations about the educational standards to be met.

Can I just ask. I have to resit my ielts before I can send off my visa? However when I re apply where do I get ielts to send my new certificate ? Obviously I get a copy but I got them to send the other one to anmac?

But in anmacs specifications I already have the scores for skills assessment.? Does this make sense?

Does anyone one know where I send my resit?

Xx

If you have a good enough score for skills assessment and are just re-sitting your ielts for points on your visa you only have to do the general test then when you put in your EOI you will have to give them the test report form number on your application. Are you a diploma trained nurse or degree nurse? Just be aware when you get your visa and apply to AHPRA for registration you could be waiting upto 12 months for your resgistration to come through. I have been waiting 6 months and they keep asking for more information and I know there are many others who have moved to Australia with a positive ANMAC assessment and Visa and we are having to work as Nursing Assistants. I would advise anyone to wait til they get their registration before moving here.

If you are planning on coming out feb/mar I would seriously consider applying for registration before November as I am aware of some registered nurses have been waiting nearly a year now to get their registration from AHPRA. There is a backlog with International Nurses that have applied since October 2013, as you have a degree you may find it slightly quicker but I would hate for you to be in the position most of us have found ourselves in where we are having to do nursing assistant work, home help or domestic work while we wait for our registration.

Yea I would advise just to apply as soon as you have your uk pin in place :) I applied in jan, finally got approved 10 days or so ago. I think things are going faster now, I just would recommend being safer than sorry. The last 4 month here in Perth have been so stressful I wouldn't wish that on anyone!

Hello to you too, I have been planning my move for almost a year and am still waiting for registration from AHPRA.. Dying to get there, I am an ITU nurse in the UK and that's all I know so any recommendations for ITU jobs and areas near by for me to start looking for cheap accommodation to rent? hugely appreciated! Very excited but frustrated at how long it's taking to get there!!

Hi Ali, I fell into the category, and can say that the AHPRA process was torturous! However I don't have a nursing degree, just the old Diploma (project 2000 for those old enough to remember) but this was assessed as the same as a degree. It does help to have some post graduate qualifications too. My Application went in in December 2013 and was granted this August! Start new job in November in WA!

I'm going to apply whilst I'm still here around December time but are planning to leave by April/ May next year ... I have no option but to go without it xx

Hi

I have just qualified as a mental health nurse from UClan university. I have received my pin this week and am now registered with the NMC. I applied to hospitals last september time to request a place on the graduate programme, sponsership or a post as a newly qualified nurse. I was contacted by email the same evening by a hospital in Perth who requested I visited them when i was over on holiday in November. I attended and was welcomed by the manager of the hospital. I was asked if i would like to be interviewed that day or skyped when in uk about june time. I opted for the skype. I was at the hospital for around an hour and shown around the wards.

I had the skype interview in july and was told in Aigust I had been offered a full time post. not grad programme. I was delighted!!!! I had not applied to any uk hospitals as I knew something good was going to come out of this.

I have sine applied to AHPRA and waiting their response. I have signed my contract and sent it back and in the process of sarting visa application.

Last year when reading posts on here getting advice I read private hospitals are the best to contact as not always need experience. So I am posting this to all who are reading to say it is possible!!

if you are persistant like myself and you are determined then apply!!

Thank you to all who have posted and helped me

miamai looking forward to working with you!!

laurenmoi hope all is well with your plans.

Ali, Miatwo thank you for your advice.

Hi Charlene,

well done! I am very nearly qualified. I'm a degree trained adult nurse, I will qualify in January. I have a job in the UK to start as soon as I get my pin, but I would much prefer to start my career in Aus. I too was thinking of applying for the graduates visa but after reading negative posts on other forums I had given up hope. Would you send me the name if the hospital please xx
