AHPRA requested my clinical placement hours so I had to pay uni £60 to confirm this!! It's at the final stage now but not sure how much longer. I apologised to the hospital for the delay but they say it's fine it's a long process and it won't effect my employment contract. Relief!! I can't go anywhere until I have registration then the hospital can nominate me for sponsorship and I can lodge my visa. Hurry up AHPRA !! Just need to get my documents certified. Such a stressful process as so much to do. Our back up was that I could always be the main earner if the Chap did not find work asap, But now with the new diploma/degree rules, I may need to just accept that I will have to work in something else, or till I can get it sorted and magic up a degree/conversion/bridging course out of the bag. Sorry to hear that loopylauren....absolutely agree that it sucks!! I would of happily done the diploma training but as I only started my training 4 years ago they were only offering degree courses in Children's Nursing so my mind was made up for me...the degree was much less funding!! The bursary in comparison was shocking! You must be devastated! To favour a newly qualified nurse over a diploma trained nurse with years of experience seems utter madness so I do feel for you! It says if you can only provide passport as ID you need to deliver it in person to register once everything has been processed?! I am doing my degree top up for APHRA but I'd really like to get my skills assessment done and get the visa as I'm paranoid there will be some major change with regards to nurses and visas and il miss out yet again! Currently doing a top-up degree...and have absolutely no clue where to start with my application. Will be doing this move alone, but unsure where to start. Do you think it would be best to just get the degree out of the way first, OR are there things I can be doing in mean time to get things started?? Any help would be much appreciated! I have gathered all information for Anmac skills assessment which is something u could be doing in the mean time, also sit your ielts test as that is needed for Anmac. Also if I send documents of qualification now....my degree won't be included will it? Surely I will need to finish this first? Its AHPRA that takes a while but if your prepared and organised and send everything in its fine, I had no problem and mine came back within 6-8 weeks ... I am going to an expo in Manchester in October and will have my pin in March 2016. When will I be able to apply for jobs,I want to work in the community and have already been offered a job in the community when qualify in England, so by the time all paper work etc is ready I will have at least a year under my belt. I was actually due to come ova in Oct last year but my hubby got cold feet so we put it off..my hubby was born oz so I have a spouse visa which I need to activate and in fact will be arriving in Perth 1st May.. We are staying in Madora Bay and we shall be looking at all different areas, jobs, houses etc no hopefully it will change hubby's mind to make the move ova. I was offered a job in community with Silver-chain but they also wanted me for their hospice as I have hospice experience too.. I came out to Perth but as I had to commit to 12 mths rental for schools and 1 child in UK not wanting to leave and one in Perth wanting to return I had to return. I had a job set up at Hollywood should have started 4 th may. Had to let them down to keep family together! Gutted gutted gutted!!!!! Returned and been sad since. My kids are 17, 15 and 14 the 14 yr old wanted to stay so much. My brother gets married in August and I'm bridesmaid. So I always had to return for that. Just wished things would have worked out. All that work to get there!! Hollywood said they will re recruit if kids change minds. I would love to try again and I'm 40 now so I'm hoping they will see sense and get out of Wigan. I never presented to ahpra in person and it runs out February hope it's still valid. Also my Nmc runs out sept and I'm newly qualified and not started nursing as was waiting to do preceptorship in Perth. Would I have to have Nmc registration of I have ahpra registration? Not sure if to get job here nursing or stay bank HCA and hope they will go in August after wedding. I would get registered with both NMC and AHPHA and maintain both unless u definitely know where ubwill stay fir the rest of ur working life. X I have and maintain both - we plan on flying over end of this year to perth. Have ur children said they will be willing to give it a go?? I would also get registered here and get some time under you belt, won't do you any harm to get started here and get experience. There are two things that you will need - one is to register with AHPRA and the other is to get a skills assessment. You will need some experience to pass the skills assessment. I would also recommend to all newly qualified to get some experience as it will stand you in good stead for the competitive job market - as I new graduate you will be up against Australian trained nurses and experience may be the thing that gets you the job. There is also a graduate programme here in Aus, the last few years they've struggled to find placements for all graduates, but it's certainly something to keep in mind as I do know of someone who got into the grad programme a few years ago.
