wallywombat
Hello, Has anyone recently opened up the NAB account on-line out of Australia and if so, how long did it take before you received the email with all the banking details? I have just submitted an application on-line for a bank account and at the end it said it takes 10 working days to process. However, the ad on Perth Poms said that it would have it up and running in 5 working days. I look foward to hearing from anyone who has recently completed this. Many thanks, Rosie
phil
When I did mine, it was well within the 10 working days.

allansouthuist
Hi Rosie Opened my NAB account online and took about 4 days for it to be activated, and then transferred my money into the account using moneycorp, as they have deal with NAB where there is no transfer fee, usually about $30/$50 I think. After transferring your money, you need to set up an appointment with your NAB assistant at your chosen branch, but they give you instruction to do this, at this appointment they give you your new card and pin, and help you set up internet banking etc, and give you the option to also order a debit card, I chose this. I found the bank card system confusing at first, as when you pay using your card, on the pin pad you get the choice of savings, cheque or credit, but dont worry the bank clerk goes through it all with you. Hope this was of use and hope everything works out well.
wallywombat
Thanks Phil, Coastie and Allan, That makes me feel better. I wanted transfer the money before we leave (March 3) and when the account said 10 working days, my heart dropped! The banking process sounds similar to Canada - we are also happy to have choices in no fees banks! Hopefully we will get the details early next week. Thanks for your help.
