Babs18
Hi Kate, Secret Harbour is pretty and close to the beach , the schools are nice too. The only real draw back is that it is quite a way out, there are a few local shops but you would need to travel for more specific items saying that though you have to travel everywhere in oz , it's so spread out! Public transport is fantastic and makes it very easy to get around if you don't want the hassle of driving. Good luck with tying up all the loose ends in the uk it can become draining I know! Babs18
Hi Jan, ive only been here a short time although my hubby has been here since sept he is fifo so he is kept pretty busy.its hard for the kids the older ones especially. My youngest takes it all in her stride and is loving it so far, my elder ( nearly 15) finds it tough at times but he is shy, not out going and hates changes to his routine. My step daughter is 16 and is due to come out in July to stay permanent but I'm not to sure how she will cope either.

We have accommodation provided for the first 6 weeks although I'm not sure where that will be. We were looking NOR though. Have to meet in the middle! Would be good to keep in touch anyway as we're in the same situation. Kerry

Guest Anthea Mackay
Hello girls ive just lodged my eoi and fancy secret harbour, I have 2 kids 4 and 11, would love to know what schools are like house rental prices and average food bills etc Thanks
ZoeCC
Hi Anthea, if you go to http://www.det.wa.edu.au/schoolsonline/home.do you can find info on schools. We were originally going with secret harbour but changed our minds and went with Baldivis so I can't tell you anything about living in SH or what the schools are like I'm afraid. I'm sure others can though! We had a short term rental arranged for the first weeks so we could look around areas and find a rental, I'd definitely recommend it if you can. For rental prices check something like realestate.com.au as it would depend on what you are looking for. Re shopping there is a thread on at the moment you should read. I found going into woolworths or coles online and doing an online shop was a good way of checking how much you would be likely to spend. All the best with it! Babs18
Hi Anthea, secret harbour is a pretty place and close to the beach, so far I have found the schools to be great. House prices are good and you get a lot of house for your money the downside is that you are quite a way out. There is a small shopping centre with most of what you need, GP , dentist , pub, woolworths, post office, hairdresser, cafe etc. work opportunity is limited though and when living in secret harbour I think most people have to travel. Secert harbour does offer a sense of community and its clean. Pit all depends on what you want for you and your family really, everyone has different needs. I would agree with Zoe , if you can get a short rental that would give you opportunity to have a look round. it is difficult to choose an area when choosing from so far away.
