Renewing British Passport whilst in Perth?

Hi, we are emigrating to Perth on 20 June but my passport is due to expire July 2014. I was hoping to get it renewed before we left but due to a couple of quick trips overseas haven't got time. Has anyone had any experience of renewing a British passport whilst out in Aus please? Feeling very excited but nervous now - 8 weeks tomorrow we'll be on the plane:smile2:

I've not done it, but you can do it at bigger Australian post offices http://auspost.com.au/passports-id/british-passports.html You may need to tell DIAC the new number http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/929.pdf so your visa is tied to it in the computer systems.

It's cheaper to do it while in the UK though.

It is easy enough to do. Just go to https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports when you need to do this. I did mine not long ago, it was an easy process and quick. As Phil says cheaper in the UK to do this but see you have time constraints. However there is a service in the UK where you can apply online for a fast track passport but of course that costs more and if you went down that route you may end up paying the same as here.

Thanks for the advice and info, as long as it is possible and not too much of a hassle then think I will just have to go with it and pay the extra costs Have enough on my plate at the moment with the move without worrying about this too. Can't wait to get on that plane!
