Hi all! Planning on making the big move around August time on a permanent visa, but I'm seeking some advice or other people's experience when arriving in WA,where you stayed in your first few weeks, did you secure short or long term rental prior to leaving uk? We are a family of 4 me 33 wife 32 and 2 girls 7&5,I'm a welder/boilermaker and wife is a teaching assistant,we are going nor to start thinking of tapping, wanneroo areas as we have some family there and they would hopefully help us out in the first couple of weeks getting a feel for the place!! So if you would share your views/experience I would be grateful as time is ticking!!!

Have a look on Poms In Oz under the reccie and arrival reports section. You will find hundreds of arrival stories, not all from Perth but lots are. It is almost impossible to secure a long term rental before you arrive, we have booked a short term fully furnished rental for 5 weeks. The norm is 1-3 months, depends what your budget is as to how much competition you face when looking for a house. Good Luck

Try reading through these replies on this thread as a starter. http://www.perthpoms.com/forum/migration-issues/10029-first-twelve-weeks-where-did-you-stay-how-much-did-cost.html You will most likley need to book a short term rental and there are some contacts in the posts that were added to the thread.
