andyplasterer
couldn't have put it better myself. Charlie Pappa you have summed up exactly what me and my wife have been feeling for the last few months, its soul destroying. And to read on here that trades people are struggling to get work on arrival is something else to worry about. I cant wait to lead a settled life again. Danihunt1980
I'm so glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. It's been one of the hardest things I've gone through. We had our medicals this morning and I found it very traumatic. Guess just more of a waiting game and more sleepless nights.
jonandsarah
Congratulations! Just read your initial post and you have written exactly how I'm feeling. We're awaiting Medicals at the moment and still a long way off getting the visas granted but I'm looking at my hometown surroundings in a completely new light. Little things like passing the house I grew up in on the way to work each morning, the smell of the hops from the brewery in cardiff, the cheeky little welsh accent my daughter has at the moment, I'm going to miss it (ok maybe not the smell of hops!)...... But I know deep in my heart we are making the best decision for us as a family unit, no matter how much I will miss all these little things, we can't not give it a go over there. good luck with all your plans charliepapa! X Gerogiasmammy, where abouts in wales are you from iam a cardiff girl i loved the smell to the hops from the brewery lol. We've been here 5 weeks and yeah you right you have to try if you dont you dont know - iam sure as hell glad we did. Love Sarah p.s Can you bring me over a clarks pie lol

Love Sarah p.s Can you bring me over a clarks pie lol Loving reading all of your posts. I'm doing exactly the same and know there is so much I'm going to miss. But I've moved away before and been 20 years where I am now. I used to miss the smell of sugar beet and when I smell it it reminded me if home but the sugar beet factory closed years ago so I'd forgotten about it until I read your posts. Some things will change and will just be memories wherever you live. You've just got to save those memories and enjoy making new ones. Sarah - really enjoyed reading your posts of your emigration journey and so pleased to read you are enjoying your new life in Australia. Good luck with everything. StraighttothePoint
Charliepappa will be the only non drinker in Perth I reckon, at times it feels like it is a p*^&ing contest here to see who can drink the most!! One of the negatives for me here to be honest. And before anyone says it is like that where they are in the UK.......

Yep we have great real ales here in Shropshire STTP, check out the Bishop's Castle Beer Festival online. This year will be my last visit there before arriving in Perth. Unfortunately Oz has not quite grasped the concept of real ales IMO, I have tried the British style bitter at the Indi Brewhaus, Mindarie and it tastes more like a dark ruby lager than a bitter and at 5.5% they must be having a giraffe. Certainly not a 'session' beer by any stretch....

Shropshire beer is southern piss by the way not a patch on proper beer Tha noes
