Guest guest3278
Does anyone live in any of the suburbs around Midland? I know Midland gets a bad rap off some people but are any of the surrounding suburbs decent for a family of 5. We aren't restricted to that area but it would be convenient as my wife may have the opportunity of a job in Wooroloo, where as I would be working in the city and Midland is around the half way point. Thank you
StraighttothePoint
If you can afford it then Guildford. It is a only a few k's from Midland, nearer to the city, and for me is one of the best suburbs in Perth.
Guest guest9824
Guildford is beautiful, love the federation houses there. Great rail and road links too. Worth a look. pea
Bibbs
Guildford is nice. But it does have a lot of traffic on the main road, a freight rail line and it's under Perth airport flightpath. Looked at buying there for ages, but just couldn't find anything that wasn't impacted by at least one of the above (and one nice place had all three). Guest guest9824
Helena Valley is nice for us but have to go to Guildford for the Thai Rob-c. Heard good reports about the Thai, must try it! We like Alfred's in winter, usually after a game of Supa golf at Oasis in the swan valley! Being ex kala you must try the new Tapas bar The Cavern and Blue Ox is really good too. Kishi is the new sushi bar which used to be Miss Cupcake shop, it's amazing inside really worth a visit. I like Helena just wish there was a restaurant or two, I know there are places in Darlington, but Helena is such a lovely spot and getting bigger and bigger. Could do with a resturant. 10 mins from Kala so in there all the time, the cavern is really nice, good food but small menu, sushi place is good too. Must say opinion of our random Friday night group is food at the best drop has gone down a bit in recent times, new owners have been in for a while now tho, hopefully will pick up again. Oh and I do like the odd noodle from the place by the hills deli, by woollies

Guest Paulkirstypaul
Hi I have been offered a job in midland. What is the area like?
Bibbs
Just looked at Guildford beyond our budget unfortunately. So you either go into the suburbs round Midland. I've a friend in Jane Brook, it's quiet, they have a loverly big house and their kids got to good schools. Or you go the other side of Tonkin (Bassendean is okay, but has a bad reputation) towards Morley/Maylands. We looked in Guildford (couldn't get the space we wanted and the trains/planes/automobiles were too much), South Guildford (few new estates, didn't want to build ourselves), Hazelmere (too far from the train line). We then looked in Mt Lawley (old houses, expensive), Maylands (nice resturants at Beauford St, or close to the station) but couldn't find anything we liked. Ended up in Bayswater. Big house, close to shops, resturants, and the station. Been there 6 months now. I'd suggest that you look for somewhere near a train line for you to get into the city (I wouldn't drive), but not so close you hear the boom gates, and near one of the highways for your wife to get to work easy. I'm sure you'll find a nice corner of Midland somewhere that ticks all the boxes.
Jessiewessie
We are in Bennett Springs which is just down the Reid Highway from Midland. About 10 mins from Midland and we love it. Very quiet and we have our own tavern, Chinese, Indian, Fish n chip shop and Woolworths. House are lovely. It's close to the Swan valley which is great. Be about. 10 min drive to Bayswater train station. We rented in Morley and it was OK. Every suburb has it's good and bad. There is is a new estate called Brookleigh between us and Midland which is under construction. Might be worth a look. Best of luck!!
