Guest Mrs Fast Twist
Hi peeps, we have been in Perth since January and we are in the process of shipping our beloved staffy over here. We were warned that after Perth quarantine closed earlier this year that it wouldn't re-open, and have decided just to book him into Sydney. I hate the thought of him having to go there but DAFF will not answer whether Perth will re open so our hands are tied. Anyone else any further news or info from anyone? Hi, don't know if its true but have been told by a few people that it may not reopen. I would hope if not that there would be an alternative in WA? If not are people the liable for the extra flights from Sydney ! Good luck with it
happyhosefitter
With great sadness I've had to cancel bringing my pooch (also a staffy) to Oz. I tried getting answers from the DAFF and got nothing so I had to go on the assumption it wasn't opening. A bit frustrating when you consider WA takes up nearly a whole half of Australia. In regards to the Sydney to Perth flights unless your pet already had a booking at Byford, then DAFF will cover the cost if not then I'm afraid it's added expense. weve just done it and saved $100s by booking that part ourselves. Did mean a trip over to Sydney to fetch them though

Did mean a trip over to Sydney to fetch them though Just organizing a quote from a pet shipper here in Oz, looked at flights for Perth to Sydney return and it's $375 so we will see if they come back near that, if not looks like I'm off on a trip to Sydney! we have only just booked it, so yes we are liable for the extra (getting used to that here!). Ridiculous when they fly past Perth to get to Sydney.......

Nikkis2000
There is another active thread this week called "Byford". On it there are a number of confirmations from shipping agents saying it's re-opening on 12th June

Guest Mrs Fast Twist
I was told today it has reopened, so pleased my beloved boys landed over here end of last year. I have been keeping off here just lately, my dog was due to fly end of June but last month he stopped eating and was diagnosed with a huge inoperable tumour in his stomach and had to be put to sleep on 31 May so we said goodbye to each other in January when we left England. Very sad we never got to see him again or say goodbye good luck to everyone whose babies are coming out soon x

Guest Mrs Fast Twist
Ahhh Mrs Twist, that is so awful you must be so devastated, it made me cry and I don't even know you. Hugs and love, Sarah Thanks Sarah, and everyone. It was absolutely devastating. He was a fit old bugger when we left in January as well. I'm glad he was with my Mum in his last days and everyone who knew him loved him to bits. R.I.P. Neo the Pig x
