Candygirl
We watched it. They did not spend too much time in WA did they? Was an interesting programme though and has given my OH all kinds of ideas on how to spend our weekends prospecting for gold:wacko:
Nikkis2000
Yeah it was a bit whistle stop! A bit of a shame they focused so heavily on mining when there is so much other stuff but I suppose they covered off the wine aspect in SA and the beaches and city life will be based around the Gold Coast and Sydney! Still it was enough to get a fix and we'll be tuning in next week too!

We felt that they had spoken about conservation and the effects of manufacturing on the landscape in SA and then when they arrived in WA, it turned into a series of WDU and focusing on how well an ex pat family had done and the FIFO workers at the airport. It just seemed as though we had switched channels without realising it. We will continue watching to get "our fix" though:biggrin:

nicolac34
We watched it last night on iplayer. It was a bit whistlestop we thought, but did give a different slant on things to the usual "australia is utopia" programmes that are usually shown. Thought the bit about camels was interesting! Did make me frown when they got to Perth and interviewed a bin man from Hull who's now earning $90k a year, lives in a big house with a pool and has a boat in the garage - what about interviewing the people who've come over and can't get a job because of things slowing down? Guess it depends when it was filmed - but I know the impression given in England (because I spoke to my bro-in-law about it) is that Perth is the place to be if you want to earn a fortune and "live the dream". lozzachino
Haha, ok that is better! Although he prob could have done that in the uk and made more money than being a bin man??
