Thanks for the info the application is saying received so I'm wondering if I need to wait until it says lodged!!!! Got all my documents attached but it doesn't give me an option to add Paul's so I'm going to chill out now and hang on till I hear something...feels so weird now having nothing to do for oz can't believe how much it takes over your life.

It sure does! We are waiting on our medicals to be uploaded by the clinic. My OH called them today and they said the paperwork is back, it just needs a doctor to go over them and sign them and they will be uploaded. They didn't say if it was all ok or not, the waiting is terrible. This is the last piece of the jigsaw so we are just hoping its all ok!

Hi all, we've also submitted our 190 application & have our medicals booked for this coming weekend, hopefully can get it all front loaded so when the CO is assigned we can move things as speedy as possible .... Well that's the plan anyway :)

Our 190 visa with my fiancee was lodged 21 June 2013 to anticipate the visa cost increase effective 1st July so i guess i still belong to this gang. :D

Submit SS WA/EOI - June 7, 2013

Approval SS - June 17, 2013

EOI Invite - June 19, 2013

Lodged 190 visa - June 21, 2013

Does anyone know how long you have to take up visa once approved? I read something saying its 12 months from your PCC date? We are hoping to be out there for the new year but may delay until end of next school year (June 2014).

Yeah you have to enter Australia to validate your visa within 12 months of the visa issue or the medical exam whichever is earliest. If you havent had your medicals yet you should be fine for June 2014. good luck with your application.

Does anyone know if there is a time limit for booking the medicals? I see that the attaching of paperwork must be done within 28 days. Does that include getting the meds done too? I planned to wait until the CO tells us to go and get them. This is for two reasons: 1) just in case we get rejected for some reason now, I don't want to pay £900 before I know the first bit was fine. 2) so we have max amount of time to get house sold etc within the 12 months post medical deadline restriction.

does it have any detrimental effect waiting until the CO says go for it? :err:

Yes you have 28 days but when our CO contacted us she said that we had 28 days but this can be extended if we could prove with receipts that we had booked the medicals. We had to fly to the UK so couldn't do it within the 28 days. We provided receipts and these were accepted. We ensured everything else was uploaded so when the medicals came through (7days after we had been seen by the doctor) our visa was approved. Unfortunately they won't give you a decision before the medicals but if you want these to be the last thing you do then you could wait until you are allocated your CO.

The rule of thumb is that we are all supposed to wait for the CO to request the meds and police checks. People front load these documents just to speed the process up. As far as getting the documents in within 28 days is concerned, as long as you can prove you have arrange the meds or sent the police checks then the CO is fine with that, as long as you are making progress towards obtaining the documents. Just send off receipts or booking confirmations if its getting close to the 28 days. If you want the maximum amount of time then wait for the CO to request them, thats fine. Hope this helps.

Thanks for feedback; does your CO confirm this or do you just proceed anyway?

Ive read here that the main applicant med tests first then other family members; is this the common approach?

If you've lodged online there's links requesting medicals for each individual included in the application. We were on eHealth and so clicked on the links, completed the forms and the system sent us a letter for each of us so we could go ahead and book medicals for the whole family.

Hi,

We did our medicals last weekend, we dont have a case officer yet, but wanted to front load. You can do either, there is a chance of speading up the process by doing them before the CO is allocated, but also a risk that you may do them unncessesarilly (ie you are rejected before that - rare I believe, but possible) or that they either expire before they are needed or leave you no time to validate your visa. When you log on to the skills select website you can click on the link to continue a started application and then click the link to organise health checks, this will give you the information that you need for your checks. Generally though adults (and I think its children over 14, but could be wrong) have medicals including bloods, urine samples and x-rays (some need additional bloods depending on your occupation) and the children have medical exam and urine samples if they are over 5 but under 14, and just the medical if they are under 5.

We booked our medicals as a family and as the primary applicant I was seen first, but we were basically all done at the same time.

I hope that helps a bit!
