MEGAGO
Hi we've been here for nearly 5 months now (me husband and 2 young boys) we really miss grandpa/dad in law. We plan him to stay for 6 months I believe he needs a visa for that. Any recommendations of travel agents to use back in the UK to do his visa and flights. Thanks
lozzachino
Visa applications can be done through the embassy website, as far as i am aware, so could you not do it for him and book the flight for him too? Saves using a third party who would take a cut somewhere along the line. Flight centra and sta are always good though and will beat any price quoted for an airline they can book. That would be for the flights only though, dont think they offer visa arrangements.
Admin
For a 6 month stay, I think you'd be looking at a Visitor Visa (subclass 600) - Tourist stream or Sponsored family stream. Have a look @ http://www.immi.gov.au/visas/visitor/600/
ROB T
I think where close family are involved a standard ETA Tourist Visa can be extended from 3 months to 6 months within a given 12 month period. Not 100% sure but certainly worth checking.
Admin
Not sure about extending an ETA. ETA conditions (http://www.immi.gov.au/visas/visitor/601/) state: Your ETA is valid for 12 months. You can enter and stay in Australia for up to three months at a time. You must comply with all ETA conditions and Australian laws. You cannot stay in Australia for longer than three months on each visit. If you want to stay in Australia for longer periods, you should apply another type of visa, such as a Visitor visa (subclass 600).
flatpack
The first time I went to OZ travelling I had to get a 12 month visa which took some doing, mu OH got a WHV but I was too old! If he gets an ETA he can stay for 3 months then fly out and back in to automatically get another 3 months AFAIK
travelchic
Sorry for hi jacking. When I make the move my mum will want to come and visit me for 2-3 months at a time. Does she have to apply for a visa each time. And is there a limited amount of times she can do this. Debs
