Nikkis2000
Hi everyone. With the onset of what is something that resembles a British Summer the shops over here are starting to flog all the usual bits and pieces which led me to wonder if it's worth buying any garden furniture like chairs and tables when it goes on sale. I'm guessing the quality of stuff over there is better, but more expensive? We'll definitely getting the BBQ over there though!!!
ali
I don't know if it's better. We'd bought a new patio table, chairs and parasol and brought that with us .... it's at the back of our garden as it's only 4 seater and our table we bought here is an 8 seater .. when we upgrade we'll go for a 10 seater. I'd say wait and see what the size of your outdoor area is.
Guest guest9824
Nikkis2000 I agree with Ali, that the outdoor areas are usually much bigger here, and seeing as how you will probably spend three quarters of the year outside, then it is an important purchase. Outside sofas and modular furniture are big here, but if there are sales on in the UK then maybe visit some garden furniture sites here, to get an idea as to whether or not the UK furniture is cheaper. Some places to look at are Super Amart (cheap and cheerful). Domaine (very expensive but luxurious) and Barbeques Galore. We bought ours from a place called Outdoor Living in Cannington, but I think its closed now, its all Australian Made and has lasted very well. pea
AndyandJo
Just be aware of the extra cost of packing etc for shipping and also wooden items may be refused entry. Looking at ads on the TV you can get a table and 6 chairs for under $199, cheaper than UK.
Rossmoyne
Have a look at Segals. http://www.segals.com.au/ They have showrooms in various places around Perth and have some good stuff well priced.
lozzachino
If you want decent stuff, check out the harvey norman website. Seen some really lovely stuff in their showrooms but it aint cheap!!! We shipped our basic outdoor stuff just to tide us over til we have a more permanent house and can afford decent quality stuff.
